One more vote for the airplane style buckle. I think it is important that your restraint break cleanly at the buckle and not require a strap to run through a buckle. I have used snowboard ratchets and found that, after a while, they bend and rust and can lock up. I grabbed my buckle from an airplane...

Riot Air 55 - Hull Only

Blue Riot Air 55 It is a C1 and I am planning on removing the pedistal to install in my new boat. I have most of the kayak guts if you want them. Includes pillars. I drilled 2 holes for saddle. I can repair holes if needed. $200 Superficial scratches only. No dents, cracks oil-canning, or other issu...

Riot cockpits can sometime be narrow.

I have had great success modifying the cockpits with a heat gun. It takes only a few minutes. I just heat up the rim, throw a towel over my thighs, get in the boat and lift my thighs up against the cockpit rim.

I've got a Slice I've been thinking about converting. Last time I paddled it, I was a butt-boater. The Slice has the same bottom as the Glide but has slightly less volume due to a change that was made to the deck. That boat taught me a lot about edges. It is very unforgiving but it's a great boat. A...

Nitro

The new Riot Nitro and the Turbo look pretty sweet. I'm looking to convert one of those. The cockpits are bigger in the new Riot boats. They are fast, run lines well, and can throw down. Some of the river runners you mentioned are more on the river runner side and less on the play side. I think the ...

Oh and...

Oh and.... To add to Mike W.'s post, I have heated and stretched a Riot cockpit before (Air 55). It worked wonders. I didn't have to get the plastic very hot. I heated the plastic until it was slightly soft and I kneeled in the boat with towels over my legs (to shield from the heat) and leaned up an...

Disco

The Disco makes a great conversion. I've had 3 of them. The cockpit is smaller than most boats but the deck height makes up for it. It is my favorite boat of all time. A great river runner and playboat. I have converted both the Disco and the "new" Disco; Both great fun. I can't say enough good abou...

Mitchell Wood Shafts vs Carbon

I have been using a Mitchell Premier with a wood shaft for 3 years and just purchased a Premier with a Carbon Shaft. Can anyone tell me about the difference in the strength of the shaft?

Thanks for the tip, however, I'm looking for an inflatable.

As sbroam said, I'm looking for something a bit more portable. Also, something a bit softer.

I'd like something like a Shredder or a JPW Culebra.

Don't know if they're still in business, but Norse Paddles are pretty tough. I used one to push rubber for a couple years. They're really heavy. They get their strength from many layers of glass and a heavy, metal shaft. They're kinda cheap too. I don't think I would ever consider one for OC1 or C1 ...

Minicel Foam - Good Price and Info

Repost from Boatertalk: I was unwilling to accept the prices for Minicel foam that I found at outfitters shops and many of the online outfitting sites. I decided to look for a dealer outside the industry. I first ordered a minicel sampler from a commercial retailer to educate myself on the different...
