I'm stoked. How'd they make it lighter?

Re: this weeks comic will seem familiar...

Well done, Sir! This is awesome.

Personally, I've given up correcting people. It just makes me look even more pedantic than I already am.

Re: outfitting my Option

You shouldn't need a lap belt plus bulkhead to stay in your boat in the pool.

Just to play devil's advocate, my advice is don't be shy about carving into your bulkhead / pedestal. It's not hard to glue back in some strips of foam. (I admit, it isn't cosmetically pleasing. But a good fit is worth it).

Re: tailored PFD

Cool tip. I never thought of taking my stuff to a shoe shop. But it makes sense that cobblers would be adept at stitching -- especially with thick material. I'll file this one away.

Re: tricks to get your head last out of the water...

This is my favorite of Phil's rolling videos:
Look at the river bottom!

Another useful adage that I like is "Try to read the logo on your boat."

I've seen myself miss combat rolls due to lack of body extension. It helps to practice slow rolls in the pool (or an eddy).

Short waterfall clip

This rapid had been on my mind for a while. I had a chance to run it yesterday. It's on Butte Creek in Scotts Mills, Oregon. The weir dam on top of a small waterfall makes for a pretty exciting double drop. Here is a short video: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=3459836194214 (It's on Facebook, b...

Re: the L'edge deck semi chop

This is old news, but I figured it would be nice to follow up. I had done a lot of hand-wringing over the prospect of cutting the decks off, but it turned out to be a very easy project. First, I traced lines with a wax crayon. I left a 2-inch lip where gunnels would normally be. (Basically, just ext...

Dragorossi Stinger

I'm interested in converting a playboat/river runner kayak to C1. I would like something for surfing and playing around on class II and III. (I am 5' 7", 180lbs.) Today a Dragorossi Stinger came up for sale locally. I haven't found much info on this boat in the forums. There was one mention that it ...

Re: Pyranha Shiva

Where I live, there is a nearby river called The East Fork Lewis (I was on it today, embracing humility). When I read your post, I started jumping up and down in my chair, wondering who the unknown cboater in my backyard was. Then I saw your location. :D Oh well, that's what it's like out here. Cboa...

Re: C-boating: Sea-boating

I took my Atom to the beach for the first time last Summer. I didn't really know what I was doing, but it was fun. In many respects, it's like surfing on the river. But the feeling of flying through the air on a wave, rather than being stationary, was new and astounding. I discovered that if you rid...

Re: Musings on why I still C1

It's cool to see that so many people do C1 and OC1 together. I bought my first C1 about a year ago. Since then, I have been paddling maybe 50/50 between the Atom and the L'edge. In the C1, I like being able to see more of the hull where it directly meets the water. I like the instant feedback.
