Re: 2014 Open Canoe Slalom Nationals & N. American Champions

Wanted to chime in, I see Alan hasn't posted in over a week. Under 3 weeks until the event. I am really excited and I think the water levels are going to be better than we were expecting at the beginning of the season. I hope that a number of you are thinking of attending. Of course it is a long dri...

Re: oc boating after knee surgery...

Bummer for you. I have had both my ACL's replaced, with Patellar Tendon Graft, which is a harder/longer recovery than hamstring. It also leaves a big scar, including the scar tissue and pain on the front of your knee, this was my detterent to kneeling initially. Your flexibility will come back when ...

If you happen to have access to old dead hulle you can cut out a piece, attache all the outfitting to it (used bolts or whate have you),I have then bolt that to the insied of the good hull. Thats what I have been doing and it works pretty good. Also can be moved beetween boats. http://cboats.net/cfo...

you reckon teak fittings would look good in a prelude? [quote]

it would probably look nice but Teak is a little heavy, if I'm not mistaken.

Level 6 mittens, if they still make them. Pretty thin and grippy. and they have a soft furry spot for wiping your nose.

maybe they confused speed with quickness. Shorter boats feel 'faster' because the turn quicker, but usually it won't have faster hull speed. I always feel shorter boats feel fast until I want it to go straight ahead.

I think at some point in one of the rants beetween Louie and Longboatin Louie had said paddling a short boat is harder than paddling a long boat. Does that mean that kayaking is harder than canoeing? Makes me wonder why kayaks have gotten shorter over the years, are they trying to make paddling hard...

I've used a LL rail as well, but obviously they are a little less available. I also find that having 4"of height from the fence rail means I have to use less foam for the saddle which is easier to shape and is less $$. Bernie is right though they do work well.

C1 conversion outfitting pics

So I have aoutfitted a few C1s and have used my modified version of the Fence Rail idea, thought I would share a couple of pics. The album that the link is for has 2 boats, a Rockit and an X. the X is the one I am refering to. they aren't the most descriptive pics but I thought I would share anyway....

Just pull real hard, or go into a really big hole and hang on for dear life and hope that the outfitting fails.

I guess I am an Idiot also as I NEVER USE bow and stern lines, but then again I have entered the 21st century and now use straps. I guess maybe because I live in the West I have moved on from using ropes and knots. I guess I feel ok being an idiot as I don't spend extra time fiddling with Bow and St...
