Wood gunnels?

I'm sorry if this has been aske before, but as has been said, the search function ain't worth much. How do you replace vinyl gunnels with wood? Specifically, intalling th wood ones. Grain orientation? Size? Shape? Anyone have a write up on it? Any help would be much appreciated. If it makes a differ...

So Bob, here's what everyone wants to know: What was your race strategy? ummmm.........., good question. i didn't really have one. i wasn't even really in it to win until i dropped the first ledge and started feeling better. after that, just paddle like h***, stay dry so i didn't have to dump anymo...

how does it compare to, say, the middle tellico? i saw it was rated 3-4, but i only saw one 3+. is this because of the wilderness nature of the run? it looks fun. might you be willing to show me down if you go?

i'll be doing the AWC tellico cleanup saturday, and running the middle tellico with them afterwards, but would be looking to run 2-3 (or maybe even some 3+) sunday and monday.
