Re: Galasport CHOP SHOP 4m slalom boat alteration question
I couldn't find it on their site, but River Elf used to have a fantastic PDF guide to cutting down slalom boats. I used it, in part, for my "Tang" -- an Estanguet Grouin cut down to 3.5 meters (and later given the Speed wing treatment on the back deck). Essentially, as I recall, you cut the top deck...

Re: Long Lost C-Boater wondering: what to paddle?
Find out whatever Tren Long is paddling and try to get one of those. I think he's pretty close to your size. OC-1 (Outrigger) looks very cool. My only gripe is that it takes those guys so long to get the things set up and assembled that I've finished half a wildwater workout before they get on the w...

I know its a long shot (@3 years later!), but have you followed up on any of these?

Re: north fork of the Payette
Back in 96 or so, I had a friend (K1) who ran it with some Team D type paddler in an OC-1. K1's comments were 1) it was pretty impressive and 2) OC-1 commented that the hardest (or maybe most tiring) part was the constant bailing.

Pro Motion Exoskin

I have one and it seems to be the exact same fuzzy rubber material that RapidStyle used to use.

Re: Wildwater Boat
I would add that I live in a cold, windy place, and know of multiple world class wildwater c-1/k1 types who got very into outrigger OC-1/OC-6. They all loved it. I think it would be a much more enjoyable option than ww c-1 in anything other than dead flat water/wind ocean conditions.

Re: Wildwater Boat
Height, weight and balance will be big issues. In my opinion (as one of the best mediocre c-1's I know :)) all of the modern designs based on the Bala are narrow, tippy and have a high bow deck, which sounds like it would be challenging in the ocean. The Tiptop, made over here by Dagger and Valley M...

WTB: Atom/Cascade skirt
Anyone have a skirt for sale that would fit a Dagger Atom/Cascade? Medium or large tunnel would both work. Thanks. e_d_g_1 [at] sbcglobal.net

Re: Slalom C1 Comparison? Vajda MM Max, One, iScream
I finally had a chance to paddle a modern 3.5 m c-1 (Vajda Scream). I was amazed at effortless the transition from my cut down Estanguet was, and how much more fun the modern design is. I am 165lb/75 kg, and don't know if I was in a medium or large, but my guess is that any of the modern designs wou...
