WS Mutant

I mean, look at this boat: http://www.eddyflower.com/ShowBoat.aspx?BoatId=279 ?! Has anyone here converted one of these? It has been nagging me for a while - the effortless pivot turns are a huge advantage in a C1, but a creek kayak that gets endered all the time is... unfortunate. I can't help but ...

Just saw the new Esquif-ized boats at Outdoor Retailer. The show hasn't opened yet, but I'll check them out up close and see what the details are tomorrow. A great company with impressive designs and a real, grassroots commitment to the paddling community - great to see a company like Esquif succeed...

I dunno... I thought Bell bought the all the molds, including the Caption. 'Course they won't make it until they decide they want to kill the Nexus. Great boat though... it would be great to see a few more out there...

Lendal Paddles (lendal.com) can make a breakdown canoe paddle - it's probably a custom job, but it can be ordered. Email petew@lendal.com if you're interested.

McCoy's likes T-grips then! A prolonged (read: unintentional) surf in Phil's torqued my Waterstick grip at the shaft about 30 degrees... took until the eddy behind horseshoe that I figured out why my boat was so unresponsive! I was able to twist it back with a bit of muscle, but yes, the joint at th...

Thanks for the offer, but think I'll abandon this purchase for now.. I need to take a trip to the SE this summer anyway, and I'll reassess then. Thanks again!

Lendel makes a T-grip which can fit their kayak breakdown. I've not used it, but if you paddle with kayakers who have a spare lendel breakdown, this might be a viable option. The spoon will be a bit funny- half a kayak paddle... has anyone tried this??

I've lost a (soft) lens once due to an unexpected splash in the face. Fortunately I carry a spare pair in my pfd pocket, though I found it immediately after opening the spare (it was stuck on my pogie!). A bigger problem has been aerated water spashing me in the eyes, blurring my vision at crucial m...

Slalom C1 from SE to Upper Midwest

Hello! I'm trying to find a ride for a slalom C-1 from Atlanta, GA to me up in Madison, WI. Start and (especially) end locations are flexible. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated- in the form of gas contributions and river karma!

I converted a Wavesport EZ this summer, and I continue to be impressed with it. The EZ is (in my humble opinion) the best all-around kayak, and it seems a lot of these properties have translated to its reincarnation on a higher plane of existence (that is, as a C-1). At 5'8" and 145lbs, I can throw ...

Yup, you can sneak Double Suck on the left (river right of the rock). I suppose one could sneak the meat of Double Trouble on the left, but not as nicely as the right and with less success. Perhaps they could have thought of names that better differentiate the two successive drops...

I've been using a Waterstick Karma for almost a season. It's worn a bit at the bottom edge, and I've recently noticed the end of the T-grip has started wiggling. I think I like the blade design though.. feels solid. Anyone have similar experiences? However, Waterstick (under Baycomp) has apparently ...
