Re: New Prototype boat from Shaggy Designs

Nice, the one thing that I've always been surprised about with Slafkovsky's boats - Hype, Lizard/Scream was how flat they are ahead of the paddler. especially for a larger person, it would be fun to have more volume focused around the cockpit. Do you have any profile pictures of the boat out of the ...

Re: Good K hulls for C-1 conversion

The popular hulls I've seen most lately are: Flying Squirrel for hucking/big water(and others from this series volume pending) Pyranha 9R & 9RII for all round and more playful river running - given availability/reasonable price this would be my next choice. The Riot Magnum was an underrated conversi...

Re: New Prototype boat from Shaggy Designs

Did you start from Tom Hewitt's old design or the Hype/Scream/Lizard? Just looking at the seam line, that's what speaks out. Both of those are actually the same original mold, but Benn worked with Tom to get more rocker and a narrower bow on the two he made. Looks nice, North American Slalom boats w...

Nice. I grew up on the Alberton Gorge in Missoula. I’d kill for that run again, big waves, deep water...

Re: Newbie from the North Woods

I'd be happy to work with you on paddling tech - sounds like you've got the outfitting started at this point. I don't know if anyone is ever done outfitting, seems like I keep lowering my saddles and creating a more secure set up. I paddled OC for a long time, but moved to C1, and then got into slal...

Re: Slalom in the midwest

I'll be in Virginia and Eveleth tomorrow and Friday. Yeah, Hit up Stoney Point, http://www.surfline.com/surf-report/stoney-point-great-lakes_72966/satellite-view/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; this link has the swell height and locations of decent breaks. Stoney and the river outlet...

Re: Slalom in the midwest

Randy Carlson was the old director of the Outpost(also a national level K1), I've raced there a couple of times in the mid 2000's. Used to be a national training center and a frequent of the USA Tour. Always up to paddle, bringing the slalom boat up again tomorrow-Friday. I'll likely run up to Stone...

Slalom in the midwest

With spring upon us, and the fight for space on waves in the winter Lake Superior surf season coming to an end. I’m trying to rally a Midwest slalom crew to get the butter cup back to MN, or at least western WI. I scored a new Vajda last fall and need to get it out more. (Pics for attention soon) Ch...

Re: C1 conversion: Prijon T-slalom

Gravedig, I've got a T-Slalom in the garage. Going to outfit it next time I'm back in MT. Similar dimensions to slalom boats, narrow, but doable.

Re: Slalom C1 for heavy paddler & relative beginner (in slal

Congrats on the promotion/demotion I'd forgotten about the development scheme. I've only raced a few GB races, Langollen(sp) and some at Holme Pierrepont(sp) Notts. trained on the london venue-fantastic course. If you see Dan Goddard say hi for me! I think he's mostly to coaching now-but he's a fant...

Re: Slalom C1 for heavy paddler & relative beginner (in slal

For reference my stern was almost always slightly under. I had my Supremo cut XXl bow, kept volume until 6" stern of the rim, then cut progessively to the end of the stern. I had my cockpit pushed back 1" as well since I paddled very much so over the bow, and wanted the ability to stay forward and p...
It is my first conversion and the absence of a bulkhead seemed like a good way to keep the space under the bow deck easily accessible for trips.
Nice, Yeah it certainly gives that advantage. I've had set ups previously with the bulkhead fit in with force-to allow ease of acc...

Re: Slalom C1 for heavy paddler & relative beginner (in slal

Looks pretty good, the scream/supremo series always look that way when paddling forward. And I always leaned offside-especially in that boat when paddling forward. The Gala desingns required less offside to track well, but the vajda bow needs a little more offside resistance... How are you liking it...

Re: C1 Remix conversion

Interesting double strap method, curious why not a bulkhead with single strap set up?

Do you plan to use the boat for extended trips?
