c1 river runner for big man
Hey the big man is looking for a river runner/ creeker that i can convert to a c-1. i am 6-5" 260#, i know i need to loose weight and am working on that in the meantime i still need to rip it up. i want a newer boat that is solid, boat weight does not concern me as much as saddle height.

gunnels holes in wrong place
screwed up and drilled right side lash holes about 2" forward of the left side. so i decided to drill some other ones so the lashing would be straight, had i done it in the stern i would not have worried about. how does this look? the second rope is a dummy string filling the holes drill by the dumm...

Re: lash fit questions
thanks for the info. i have seen some setups where the lacing ties all the way back down to the floor, which i would think would be better. i am guessing this kit does not account for that. i had thought of drilling through the hull and attaching the grommeted clip for the keeper strap and then glue...

Re: lash fit questions
What kind of canoe is it? it is a Blast. One D-ring is probably for the fore strap and one is probably for the aft one. Just a guess. i think you are correct , i think the kit came with options for both. i suppose, i am to tie the lashing cord back down to the keeper strap pad or just dont bring it...

Re: lash fit questions
Most float bag lashing kits sold for solo canoes are intended to be used for a pair of bags, one in each end of the canoe. The pair of vinyl D ring patches is almost certainly intended to be to anchor each of the "keeper straps" to the hull bottom at the end of the bag closest to the center of the ...

Re: Wood gunnels?
yes they get beat up a bit and weathered, after all we are paddling over rocks, sometimes even right side up. I think they stiffen the boat and its what make a canoe a canoe.

The old ones are still on my old boat and are in good shape. the specs on the gunnels are 7/8 x 3/4, the 3/4 side goes against the boat. straight gr...
