Re: Advice on patch job
This may not be helpful, but ClassFive canoes can build you a composite Atom. Maybe you're not looking to spend that type of money, but the price is reasonable - and the boat will come in around 26-27 lbs as opposed to (I think) 48 or 49 for a plastic Atom. My wife and I have composite Atoms. They'r...

Re: Repair T-Formex Dents
Since my friends boat 'came this way' - bought used - I do not know what caused the deformation in the hull. The canoe is not Esquif- it is (I think) a Mad River Explorer 16' (well 15' 11"). I think the boat is 3-4 years old.

Re: Repair T-Formex Dents
I am asking for a friend who has the boat. It was like this before they got it, so I don't know what created the dents. From what I read about repairing Royalex, you can heat it and press it back into shape; but several posts cautioned about over-heating it because you could melt the vinyl exterior ...

Repair T-Formex Dents
I searched the forums for this and didn't see anything that appeared to be on this topic. Does anyone have experience in trying to repair dents in a t-formex canoe? A friend is looking at one that has a couple of moderate size dents in the bottom (a touring canoe). Then dents are about 12" in diamet...

Re: C1 and C2 for sale - Update
Here are my sentiments/opinions on the boats that have been discussed here: **> Tomahawk C2: We paddled a Tomahawk for about 30 minutes many years ago. The Tomahawk is fairly similar to a Whupatar C2, as they were designed around the same time. We raced (slalom) and river ran a lot in the Whupatar. ...

Re: River Elf Storm Giant
This is for anyone who has or gets a Storm Giant C2. Snap Dragon does indeed make a skirt that fits the Storm Giant just great. However, when I called Snap Dragon about 6 weeks ago, they said that they no longer sell directly to customers. (At least that is what I was told.) You can get Snap Dragon ...

Re: River Elf Storm Giant
Review: River Elf Storm Giant C2 This boat is a dream to paddle! We just finished paddling 50 miles on the Owyee River (Oregon) in this boat. The river was running between 3800 – 4300 cfs during our trip. We had numerous class II rapids, a good number of class III, and two class IV rapids on the str...

Re: River Elf Storm Giant C-2
Mary and I will post a review - or at least our two cents worth - on the boat. However, that won't be until after we get it outfitted - likely sometime later in November as the boat arrives tomorrow (11/8/2018). Seeing as the weather in Wisconsin is now has hi temps anywhere from low 30s to low 40s,...

Re: Two Zealot C1s (slalom) for Sale
As you may know, the original cockpits on the Zealot were not made for anyone but 'skinny dudes and gals'. Thus, I cut out and significantly widened the portion of the cockpit where it hits the outside of your thighs. The back 2/3 of the cockpit are original, and the very front is original. Many yea...

Re: Suggestions for Slalom C1 and C2
Thanks for your response. More info helps. You say, "I'm not sure how many other manufacturers you have in the US ..." **> To the best of my knowledge there aren't any manufacturers in the US or Canada making slalom boats under the current specs. Millbrook boats (in New England) has some slalom mold...

Re: Suggestions for Slalom C1 and C2
Yes, we would be willing to sell the Whupatar. A couple of caveats:
1) We want to get a new (for us) C2 first and that won't happen immediately.
2) We live in Wisconsin.

Suggestions for Slalom C1 and C2
My wife and I are looking to buy new (for us) slalom C1s and a C2 for doing slalom races. We are still debating whether to buy new or used. Here is a little background: * We have raced slalom for 25 plus years, although we haven't raced too much lately. We used to race quite a bit, racing many times...
