solo playboating assumes you already have basic skills, but takes you a level or 2 beyond. lots of good pointers for boat control, efficiency, surfing, ferrying and some rolling as i recall. i believe even advanced boaters will pick up subtleties and suggestions for improvement. racers have the best...

solo playboating and drill time are exceptional videos for open boaters. kent ford, bob foote, and crew do a tremendous job. i watched both several times before i taught a WW clinic this spring. they will raise your skill level just by modeling these guys. get both and bob foote's open canoe roll vid...

bell prodigy

i weigh 175 and borrowed a prodigy from a student at a WW clinic. loved the boat, found it fast, smooth, caught eddies well and was stable compared to the detonator i paddle. good all around boat i thought. if he becomes a proficient paddler, don't think the weight would be a big issue. but don't kn...

contact lenses

i always had an ethical dilemma with true daily disposables, ones you toss after 1 use, seems to be too much waste with packaging. so i never encourage them. to me the monthly disposbles are a good compromise, economical, healthy for the corneas and still have extras to take on a paddling, diving, c...

contact lenses

i am an optometrist and have paddled for years in contacts. i mostly open boat but have kayaked and c-boated. lost 1 lens once on the ocoee, but had a spare in my dry bag, replaced it in an eddy and paddled on down. sitting around the fire later the next evening, my vision blurred as my lost lens ap...
