Don't want to hijack the thread but is there a video or write-up somewhere how to do a stern squirt in a C1?
I'm specifically curious how you go the opposite way from what he's doing in the video. Do you initiate with a big sweep stroke?

Re: Seat Height and Stability
For sure. I tried my saddle down around 4.5" and definitely noticed a loss of reach and power. 5.5" seems to be my happy comprise, all things considered.

Re: Seat Height and Stability
They're directly linked. Even half an inch can make a big difference. I go as low as I can well remaining reasonably comfortable. There's no easier way to increase your confidence in a boat that you feel squirrelly in then lowering the saddle, imo.

Re: Slalom boat outfitting.
Thanks Mike. It occurred to me that it was that simple but then I didn't think that would do much of anything to keep it any drier. Still a major pain to get on. I talked to SnapDragon and they said they'd remove it if I can't get it to work but I'm sure after a soaking I'll be able to wrestle it on.

Re: Slalom boat outfitting.
Who knew something so simple could be so confusing. I don't currently have access to it so I can't visualize any other way of doing it.

Re: Lost my Roll
Someone needs to produce a current How To video. I've got Bob Footes , but I'd like to hear from some current paddlers too. I know lots of kayakers that have learned to roll from Jackson's Bracing and Rolling video. Not sure that's necessary, this is my favorite for analyzing technique: http://www....

Re: Slalom boat outfitting.
Thanks Bob, I thought there might be an issue with the bulkhead. Does someone make longer split stern bags? The ones I use in my other c1's would be way too short.
As for the skirt, the extra neoprene gets folded into the boat, acting like a gasket between the bungee and the rim of the cockpit.

Slalom boat outfitting.
So I picked up my first slalom boat awhile ago, a beat up old Ninja Pro, the outfitting needs some work so it's just been languishing in my storage locker but I think it's about time I get to work on it. I have no real intention of racing it just thought it'd be fun to screw around with on easier ru...

Re: Saddle position for WS Diesel conversion
6-8" off the rim of the cockpit seems to work for most boats. Chances are you're going to need to do some tweaking to the outfitting for awhile regardless.
Hopefully someone that's actually converted one can help though.

Pictures would be helpful too. I *THINK* my redline has the factory outfitting, but I've never actually confirmed that. Would be nice to compare.

Re: Loose Dagger factory outfitting
If it'll float away when you inevitably swim it needs to be glued down. Otherwise it's fine.

Re: T-Formex, the next generation of ABS
Is it reasonable to expect a boat to survive a wrap as you've described? Personally, I think that's asking a lot of a material that also expected to stay rigid and hold its shape for years.

I also went out and picked up a BD Magnetron yesterday as I was impressed with the ease of one handed manipulation. Thanks for the recommendation, Gonzo.

I also like the same paddle length regardless of saddle height.
