Re: Whithewater tripping solo canoe
Looking at my old Rival, I just remembered that, other than the hull that is becoming soft, the vinyl is now peeling. This happens in many small spots on the hull. Is there something to do with that?

Re: Whithewater tripping solo canoe
I finally decided that I will “refresh” the outfitting of my Probe 12 II that I stored several years ago. It is still in good shape. I had bought a Rival for my wife and a Probe 12 II for me. Finally, I preferred my wife’s boat and since she was not using it very much, I was the one that wear it up ...

Re: Whithewater tripping solo canoe
It’s interesting to see the pros and cons for each boat, but it’s difficult to make a choice… There are a lot personal preferences involved in choosing a boat. For myself, I think that the most important aspect is the speed. So here is my 100$ question: Which Royalex solo canoe, when loaded with gea...

Re: Whithewater tripping solo canoe
Thanks for all these advices again. Now does anyone have comments on the Prodigy? Looks like it would be a great solo tripping boat. Other choices are Viper 11, Nitro, Probe 11 and Spark. I find the Nitro too slow. I have a Probe 12 II and find it too large; I suppose that it would be same for the P...

Re: Whithewater tripping solo canoe
Thank you all for your good advices. I was not aware of the Millbrook Boats. Do you have any data on this composite material? Is it reliable? Better than Twin-Tex? Can I use the same glue as for Royalex (Stabond)?

Re: Whithewater tripping solo canoe
I actually always use one 60L and one 30L for 2 or 3 days trips. The only time I could use two 60L would be for week long trips. That’s why I want the boat to be capable of loading two 60L. As for the repair issue, I think that it looks worse than it is actually (i.e. the boat is more fragile than a...

Re: Whithewater tripping solo canoe
Thanks.
I'm 5'10" and 190lbs.
The Rival was perfect for me. It is 12'2" while the Zephyr is 11'3". Hopefully the Zephyr can do the job. I wanted to try one last summer but couldn't. What I like about it is its weight...

Vertige X / Caption / Probe 14
Hello! I currently own a Vertige X that I outfitted myself so it can take three 60 liters barrels. I’m looking for a second 14’ canoe. Do you know if a Caption or a Probe 14 could take three 60 liters barrels? Also, do you have any opinion on how the Caption and Probe 14 compare to the Vertige X? Th...

Whithewater tripping solo canoe
Hello! My old Dagger Rival is now dead. I’m looking for a new canoe that can fit two 60 liters barrels, the sportiest, the better. I was thinking about the Zephyr. Do you have any opinion on this canoe? Does it can fit two 60 liters barrels? Will it be fine when loaded? Do you have any other solo ca...
