i love plastic

royalex is ok for canoes over 10 ft also... nothing beats the feel of plastic ramming into a rock on a class 4-5 creek at high speed....

survey on use of Rouge River (Qubec)

Hello, We've got a project to protect part of the Rouge River in Qubec (between Ottawa and Montral), and to convince the powers that be we are documenting how many paddlers (kayak, c, and oc ers) have been on the river and will go annually. Our goal is for part of the river to become a park (7...

Splash or other kids OC

Thanks everybody for the info. I think that starting in c1 for small kids is perhaps a little tough (i.e. popping the skirt). However, as a good parent, I don't feel I can start them on K1 (for fear they stay on the dark side ;-). Maybe X1 (using kayak paddle in oc or c1) would be a good compromise,...

kids c1 or OC?

Hi- saw Eric Jackson's son doing c1 in the garburator on the Ottawa and felt like a bad parent for not getting my kids their own boats. Any ideas or experiences for a good model OC or C1 for a 9 year old? I know the Dagger dynamo was a kids k1, not many around, the Jackson fun maybe or possibly riot...

Riot Big Gun

Got a Riot Big Gun and I'm lovin it, boofs great, no harder than the Atom, surfs better IMO (nose doesn't catch when front surfing). It has a hatch on the back so is possble to go away camping for a wknd. The Riot Magnum is a newer version, the Sniper a smaller one. OC. [img]http://www.steepcreeks.c...

One good way to learn flatwater tricks is to partially or totally deflate the flotation and put some water in the boat until you can do stalls, etc. As your technique improves you'll be able to do these tricks with less and less water in the boat. Not sure how much flatwater moves you can do in a CU...
