Re: French Broad Near Hot Springs
Hot Springs is the take out for section 9. Its nature changes with the water level. You probably saw the ledge above the bridge which at recent levels becomes a hole. The river can be paddled from 500 to 5,000 for most boaters or higher. When the Big Laurel is running it empty below an alternate tak...

Re: Time for a New Boat
I have owned or at least paddled nearly every boat mentioned. The Ocoee was my favorite Royalex boat. I think the Esquif Zephyr made in their new Twintex is the closest to the glide, turning, and rocker comparing it to the Ocoee. The Rebel and Condor do not have the rocker bow and stern that the Oco...

Yes, check out the link above. For a playful buyount boat the Octane 91 is fabulous. I am short and did not enjoy the Condor. It seems to need more height/longer arms than 5'4' to turn easily.

At 250 pounds the Blackfly Octane 91 is a wonderful playboat for enders, surfing and it rolls like a dream.

Re: Boaters, Asheville In April
IF you are on FB join Midweek Paddlers Asheville group. Lots of trips. I've had serious health issues that make it where I don't list a trip in case I have to cancel, but folks paddle all through the week and weekend.

Re: Ion VS "mid-length" modern boats
I have owned ll of these boats and the 1st and 2nd generation Ion. The 2nd generation carries more momentum than the first but either one has much, much less momentum than your Outrage or other boats listed. I preferred the first generation for drops and punching through holes but both do well creek...

Re: I need to demo some Millbrook boats.
I don't own any Millbrooks right now, but coming from the Prodigy X I think you would really like the Outrage. I have owned and paddled both of these. The 20/20 is another boat I think you would enjoy. The shorter boats such as the Shacho would not have the primary stability for entry and exit, but ...
