Re: hip pads
hmm tried em, dont understand why people like em. My personal con is they limit how much I can lay the boat over and keep weight centered. Now, some of the Millbrook boats I have paddled dont do much different the farther they edged, so I can see how hip blocks can function in that application. But ...

Re: Millbrook Armada?
I would be way into this, but gonna have to be for next year. Already headed to Fiddlehead slalom in May. Also that will give me time to work on getting Dale back north for some runs. definitely want to check out the Derby.

Re: Not my boat (millbrook?)
Glad to oblige. I would definitly be down for a Millbrook armada. that would be very cool. Would certainly warrant some beatin the bushes when organizing. It seem crazy but around here there are still glass only guys who get mad when I so much as mention plastic boats lol. I imagine NY much the same...

Re: Not my boat (millbrook?)
Phew...14hr driving round trip to get the boat yesterday. But it was all worth it. Wood is fair but can be refinished. Otherwise, it a barely scratched time capsule.

Re: Please don't flame...paddle shortening question....
nuthin wrong with shortening, but I suggest try it as sized for a while. paddle is a lever basically, and u want it to maximize the energy ur putting into it, especially in a more classically sized (12-16ft) canoe if u dont have, or dont want to purchase a punch set as suggested above, get a finishi...

Re: Replacing vinyl gunwales
chris I replaced the vinyl gunwales on my tandem after the Savage debacle by drilling out the rivets. I sourced the new gunwales from Tussey Mtn Outfitters in Bellefonte, PA. and could be had with or without aluminum insert. I opted for insert. Putting on the new gunwales was super easy utilizing st...

Re: removing old, broken outfitting.
wow :o from ur description i can say for certain those drings are glued in with JBWeld. that must be a former Lengthy boat or at least outfitted at tussey Mtn outfitters. the holes with mushroomed weld are dead giveaway, those guys are the only ones i know that glue them that way. I say stiff putty ...
