Re: Cboat Fire Sale

Your red Zealot repairs behind the cockpit rim are definitely to remove some of the rocker. I bought I think Zealot number 2 or 3 out of the mold (mine was green) and it had the same cut right behind the cockpit. I purchased mine used from Bob Robison back in 1997 and Bob told me the cut was to remo...

Re: Under rated boats...

Yes, I was juggling tennis balls in swimmers. Kind of fun. If I dropped one on the down stream side I could retrieve it in the foam. An upstream drop - ti would go under the boat and it was gone.

Re: Under rated boats...

My husband and I had great fun in our Gemini V C2. We borrowed the mold from Steve Chamberlain with Philadelphia Canoe Club. Built the boat ourselves with Wilmington Trail Club paddlers in 1985. I've attached some pictures. We had a lot of fun in the boat for several years. Swimmers on the Yough, To...

Re: C1 & C2 Boating

Jim KR, The price Victor gave us at Class V was good for one or more boats. Victor had recently gotten a great price on Kevlar and passed the savings onto us. Nice to see that. The normal price was $1295 and he charged us $1158. So, yes he has great prices on his composite Atoms. He also has some ot...

Re: C1 & C2 Boating

My husband and I also own Kevlar Atom C1s, so now there are 2 more in the wild! We had Class V boats build them new for us last fall and laid them up to our liking. For 20 years we slalom raced and river ran in Zealot C1s. The Atom was designed off the Zealot and we can tell. I've been out in my Ato...

Re: Buying Advice

Sounds like you have gotten great buying advice. If you are looking to improve your paddling skills, I'd recommend trying a NESS slalom race. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=NESS+slalom+series They are mostly open boaters with some C1ers in the group. Great group of people to ge...

Re: C1 and C2 for sale - Update

I would also add that the Storm Giant C2 does not slide coming into eddies. A 14 ft open canoe will certainly slide. So to answer you question, yes this C2 will handle very differently than your Caption. We have paddled tandem open canoe on occasion - they are slugs compared to a composite C2. The w...

Re: C1 and C2 for sale - Update

Here's a link to the River Elf Storm Giant C2 review: https://cboats.net/cforum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7970405 My husband and I do not paddle open canoe tandem - we've spent 35 years in slalom C1s and C2s. We both slalom race and river run in our slalom boats. I do believe that the Storm Giant C2 will ...

Re: C1 and C2 for sale - Update

The Grokshark will be a lot more forgiving than the Tomahawk C2. My husband and I have river run in a Savage Grokshark for about 30 years - we had 2 different boats built for us over the years. We've done everything from the Middle Fork of the Salmon, Lower Gauley, Lower Yough, etc. We even flew the...

Re: River Elf Storm Giant

My husband and I just got back from a trip to northern Wisconsin and paddled the May's Ledges section of the Bois Brule at high water levels (400 cfs). It's a small river with several ledges that are maybe 2-5 feet with long rapids below each ledge. So fairly technical and approaching Class III. The...

Re: WTB whitewater canoe around Western North Carolina.

My husband and I have an Esquif Blast tandem canoe for sale. Asking $800. It's in excellent condition and used about 10 times on easy whitewater. It's Royalex and comes with factory installed pedestal seats and thigh straps. Air bags are included. We live in southern WI, but will be in Ohiopyle, PA ...

Re: River Elf Storm Giant

We paddled the Baraboo River (about 1 hour north of Madison, WI Storm Giant3.JPG ) yesterday. It’s a Class 1 river, but with nice volume (~1400 cfs yesterday), so there were some nice places to practice ferries, eddy turns, peel outs and some surfing. We absolutely love the boat! Here are some thing...
