Re: Getting the young ones out in open boats

Its not an Octane 59, its an Octeen 59  , dont want to have problems with copyright.
No shortening :o , I ordered some 4 mm PE panels and weld them together on a mold.
Its challenging so far, but it works.

Re: Getting the young ones out in open boats

I bought the plans in the US from geodesic airolite boats, but wouldnt do it anymore. Cant recommend this company. There are plenty of plans and tutorials on youtube for free in the www. Building a skin on frame boat is easy yet it is not very durable. But good enough to learn the first paddle strok...

Re: Getting the young ones out in open boats

A tandem is nice, but kids will learn paddling faster in a solo boat.
Our problem with our 6-year old daughter: there is no canoe in her size.
We do have a taureau, but a 6 year old kid cant handle it.
The splash is nice, but import to europe is very expensive.
So last year I built a SOF for her.

Re: Cracked Taureau

Thank you for your replies! Since Esquif didnt replied to my questions I did cut a piece of the cockpit rim. :o Not really one of my prefered solutions... The crack is water-proof now, but I dont know whether it will be rugged enough under normal mechanical load :-? For better bonding I used a stain...

Re: Cracked Taureau

The taureau is based on "T-form elite", a polypropylene blend. Question is, which kind of blend is it?
Polypropylene-abs?

Cracked Taureau

Hi there, Got a Taureau with no warranty left which has got a crack in his hull on the side. Tried to repair it with PP welding but didn´t work. Wrote 2 emails to Esquif about this, asked about help, didn´t get any answer (this was 4 weeks ago!) Even offered to pay for sending me a piece of T-form e...
