Re: pump issues

Did you try swapping batteries? Make sure it's the 12volt version of the pump, they also make a 24v version which would either go really slow (or not at all?) on a 12v battery.

Re: Air bags for an old ovation

Aquaseal works well because it stays very flexible, gflex wouldn't be good, because it would dry really stiff, as I guess most epoxies would. I made the patch in the photo linked below more than 10 years ago on a voyageur bag as discussed above. I think I used a scrap of an old table cloth or who kn...

Re: Kayak conversions—and catching up!

I wonder if the green boat would be very stable as a c1, being somewhat narrow and long for speed. The Remix makes a nice c1, but might not be as snappy as a more slalom friendly design. I've seen a few Dagger Atoms around the west for reasonable prices, sometimes on Craigslist (sometimes people don...

Re: Air bags for an old ovation

If the bags have a few pin holes, you can make a pretty durable patch by using aquaseal to coat both sides of a bit of fabric, then stick it to the cleaned up, dry bag surface, covering the hole on the deflated bag laid flat. Spread some more aquaseal past the edge of the patch, then cover with wax ...

Re: My $.2 on MT canoes

My next boat will be an SS from MT Canoes, got to paddle one in September and it was great! All of the good qualities of the Caption plus that glass boat magic.

Re: Help...Racks too short

Gunnel brackets or feet that fit on the bars raise the canoe by abouy an inch, and might be enough to help if it's close. I have a rear spoiler on a 4runner that gets in the way for rockered boats but clears when using the brackets/feet.
They also are nice for long canoes at highway speed when windy.

Re: Millbrook Rayge, Shacho feedback sought

I wanted to follow up on my original post, hoping it might be useful for someone else in the future. Having considered the feedback from a few others in the forum, I decided on a shiny new Shacho, which I'm now enjoying paddling. Echoing others' comments, the boat does run dry, is very nimble, accel...

Wow, that is really helpful! Thanks to Dale so much for taking the time to give such a great writeup, and to Michael for helping to get my question to Dale! Lots of food for thought

Re: Millbrook Rayge, Shacho feedback sought

Thanks, I did try to send him a note through Facebook, but I may have done something wrong. The boat does look fun. I think I saw some early notes that guessed its top end paddler weight at about 190.

Millbrook Rayge, Shacho feedback sought

Has anyone paddled both the Rayge and Shacho enough to offer some feedback on how they are similar and different? At 210 lbs and 6'2", I'm curious how each might paddle. Kaz offered that the Rayge would likely be snappier into eddies at my weight, and I found some positive feedback on the Shacho for...
