Re: Canoe for the Grand Canyon

I paddled a Caption with 2 pumps & 2 spare batteries stashed in a support raft. I thought it was the perfect boat & swam only 2x between Lee's & Diamond. My roll sucks too, so it really wasn't an option. It was a late July trip, so the swims were pretty sweet since they were at the bottom of drops. ...

Yeah, it's camera glare. The boats sold now for what I asked to a very happy openboater! Yeah, it's light, carry on 1 shoulder with 1 hand. I'm going to miss that part! Actually, I will miss the boat, it's real pretty to look at & oil.

The gunnels have no gray, just well oiled & maintained ash & mahogany. Jealous? :)

It's not size/weight as much as kneeling height. My knees can't deal with it. I love the boat, it's just torture. Cartilage removal in both knees & age has taken it's toll somewhere. I will grudgingly admit a few things to that issue. Purple? No I now think purple is cool. Like I said, it's one of a...

LOL! Dude, you ever put a boat in the water, what happened? It got some scuff marks! That's it, no gouges, no dents, no ABS showing, no wear under the saddle & it is perfect woodwork. "Almost like new". No, not from the Valley, from the ATL & like Caption's myself. Love boat, it just freakin' hurts!...

August on the MSF

I have put in at Boundary Creek in August as low as 1.6. 1st few miles is scrapey, but not terrible. All of my trips have been self supported. 1.6 was tandem in a Dimension. It's worth the trip & effort, the scenery & experience is incrediable. After Indian Creek the water volume has increased signi...
