Re: Varnish/sealant for wooden t-grip?
Never had a problem with blisters, but I always sand the varnish/poly off my T-grips.
Why have a fine wood grip that feels like slick, shiny plastic in your hand ?
I use teak oil. It feels like I have better control this way.
I also wrap an area of the shaft with bicycle tape for a better grip.

Seems rather innocuous .milkman wrote:Non-fiction novel?
Now that's a good example of smashing stereotypes. Perhaps it's a little like writing a history of the next century. Or a fact-based book supporting Tea Party theories.

Re: WTB: Size L or maybe XL dry suit
I like the neoprene neck.
Those latex gaskets are a bitch, especially over the head and around your neck.
I always felt like I was being choked to death, along with trauma to the Adams apple, and difficulty swallowing.
Only neoprene neck for me now and just as dry.

Re: ONE piece of gear to make paddling more enjoyable...
I always buy, top of the line gear, saves money in the long run. It lasts. And.. I love a fine wooden paddle; warm, balanced, beautiful, light, and just enough flex. But, finding an awesome boating shoe, that's a lot harder. I've tried many, but loved few. To me , money is no object to have happy fe...

Re: Help me choose a boat
Forgot to mention the T-grip for controlling blade angle.
Can't really do that in strong current with a 2-headed paddle.
SUP paddle Well, has long as you're having fun.
I think a Probe 12 would make you a fine boat at 12'8" and be much more fun.

Re: Help me choose a boat
I would think that a WW canoe paddle is much more efficient than a kayak paddle.
Especially when doing the strokes we do in a canoe...ie. skull, draw, pry, forward, etc.

Damned parched earth, it sucked up all the rain.
I guess it needed it more than I did.
Maybe next time. Went dove hunting instead.
Dance for a wet winter.
