Paradigm

I would be interested in buying a Paradigm in good condition. If you have one, please let me know. I live near Boston, MA, but it might be possible to arrange for shipping if you are a long distance from there. Thanks.

Helmet Advice

I haven't shopped for a helmet in ten years. Now I need a new one. The most important criterion by far is protection of what's left of my brain. I know that looks should be paramount, but humor me. Let's pretend for a moment that price is no object within reason. What should I get, and where can I g...

Re: Best way to keep airbag from interfering with pump

I had that problem, too. I made three little minicell blocks and glued them in around the pump. That kept the airbag away.

Re: BC Whitewater

I was wondering about the eh. So, the rule is simple enough---goes at the end of each sentence, eh? Checking on the Canadian immigration laws it looks like I might have to enter the country strapped to the underside of a truck, eh? A few years ago it was easy, but now it is quite difficult, eh? Sorr...

Re: BC Whitewater

Wow. You guys are great! Thanks. Right now I live in Massachusetts near Boston and I do paddle all year round, down to the middle 20s F (obviously I'll have to get used to the metric system and centrigrade if I move to Canada). I love paddling in the snow, it's so beautiful. I often paddle in groups...

BC Whitewater

My wife and I are thinking we might retire to British Columbia. Where would an open boater who wants a lot of 3/4- within a two hour drive want to live? Would Vancouver do it? Would Vancouver Island do it (much cheaper real estate there).

Re: Curved versus Flat Blade

Honestly, I can't identify the exact reason, but I do think they work better than flat blades. If you're Kaz, it might not make a difference. Me, I need all the help I can get. I mentioned that my shoulder hurts. Because of that, I have been forced to paddle correctly, as many people have tried to t...

This question hasn't been asked LATELY

It's been awhile since i bought a new paddle. I want to buy a good spoon blade, but $300 will be my limit (if I pay more than that, I'll lose it within a month). I do mostly class 3/4 and a lot of rocky New England rivers. My shoulders hurt so I'm looking for some flex. I already know about Mitchell...

Re: Paddle Recommendation?

Personally, I couldn't see paying $160 for a club paddle, but if that's the plan, Fox makes a durable, if heavy paddle. It comes in a spoon blade, too.

Re: zephyr shedding

When I was at MKC years ago there was a paddler there who had a Zephyr. She wore a wetsuit and so she didn't notice the little fibers. Then she washed the wet suit with her clothes. The sharp little shards got into all of her clothes and she noticed that big time. She had to throw them away. Anyway,...

Re: Skid Plate Installation

Trust me. I need them. My average boat life is about 4 years. Although my Option probably will outlast me, and will be a legacy in my will.

Skid Plate Installation

The instructions for installing kevlar skid plates on a royalex boat are confusing to me. After waiting a long time on hold to Harmony I gave up trying to ask them. The instructions say that immediately after putting the wet skid plates on the hull and smoothing out all the wrinkles and bubbles, fli...

Securing pump to hull

I've had a lot of trouble with this, but recently I came up with a solution that is working well. All you need is some minicell, some cord, such as you might use for an air bag cage, and some contact cement. You'll need three lengths of cord, each about 15 in. I took three small chunks of minicell--...

Re: Novacraft Ocoee

They do have some interesting videos, dropping off a high roof, hitting with a big hammer, standing on it, bending a piece of it back and forth with a pair of pliers. What I really wanted to see was realistic river conditions. There is one video of some people broaching a tandem canoe on a rock in a...
