Re: Detonator compared to Viper 11?

Reading these posts makes me want to get my Viper back out on the water...have a couple 11s, a 12, and a few other boats collected over the years. I can only speak about the Viper...most of the new boat names are unfamiliar since I haven't paddled much in the last few years. I'm one of those that te...

Throwing my $.02

I quickly scanned the info and thought I might mention the Mohawk Viper. I've got three of them; the Viper 12 being the most stable. I live in B'ham and can't paddle due to knee injury...have a second surgery scheduled for next week. So, if you want to borrow one to try on the Mulberry or whatever. ...

H2Pro

My first OC was an H2Pro. I wish I still had it to let new folks use. That thing was a tank...much stronger than the ABS on boats these days...then again it weighed more as well. Anyway, I can't imagine setting it up tandem for two adults...maybe for an adult and kid. I would think stability would b...

Rio Grande

My brother and I ran the lower TB, the section with Souse hole in a tandem inflatable canoe a few years ago when there was at least one flush drowning. It was very high...maybe 5k, don't really remember. I do remember watching souse hole flip 18' rafts end over end and wondering how our little boat ...

I've used JB weld as a filler and had problems like you

describe. Now I use seam sealer to fill in the gaps under the ABS layer and then lay up one or two layers of s-glass with Devcon Flexane 80. I repaired a 3 foot rip on the on side of a viper 12 with one layer of glass this way three years ago and only had to go back last year and put another later o...

Thigh straps or Thigh Retainer both work fine for me. Maybe

I'm way out on this but good toe blocks in the right position make more of a difference to me when it comes to staying in my boat upside down. When I got my new boat a couple of weeks ago I didn't install toe blocks at all and couldn't stay in my boat upside down no matter what I did (had the double...

One from Birmingham Alabama

Chris Sherrod, No one was at the Dinner Bell but I lucked out when Jeff called me back. I'm Chris Sherrod and I paddled a yellow Viper 11 with Dooley and Jeff on the Tellico Ledges today.

Thanks guys!

I'm thinking to head that way after dropping the kids

off at school Friday morning. I'm coming from Birmingham, AL. Looking forward to meeting some of my single bladed breathren. I was on South Sauty Sunday and there was only one other OC1 out of twenty something boaters. Now that some of you are there; what do you recommend as the best place to crash/...

I would go with the Viper 12 because it's a good boat from

class 1 through class 5...big water or low volume creeking. I think you'll find it's much more stable than the Ocoee. I've paddled the Ocoee, Viper 11 and 12, Rival, H2Pro, and various C1s, etc. I found the Viper 12 more stable than the Viper 11 and Ocoee. Like any hard chine boat I tend to stay on ...
