I decided to go for a new moniker on the forum: Cone Bone.

Congrat's on the design!

It has to be satisfying to design your own boat. As your own worst critic, it says a lot for the design that you think you have something successful. Especially since you are a self-avowed junkie that has tried many designs. Congrat's! I am interested in the design, and possibly funding one boat. Wh...

Search Function

You might benefit by using the search function of this forum. I think a fair amount of discussion will be found by searching for postings related to 'dead leg,' for starters. Three things that came from earlier postings and suggestons from other paddlers that have really helped me: First, position y...

Doctors' opinion

Space Canoe, The first time I damaged a knee (motorcycle and cadillac crash many years ago... I was on the motorcycle) one of my knee ligaments ripped partially through, in a location that was difficult to repair. The doctor involved suggested that I opt for physical therapy to beef up the muscles a...

Knee Strength

I swim laps using only my legs, in an effort to strengthen the muscles around my knees. I have a variety of ligament damage in my knees, and doing the frog kick for several laps every week seems to prevent knee pain. The medical types tell me that when my muscles get slack, the worn ligaments take m...

Ambidextrous C-1'rs

I am curious how many C-1 paddlers can paddle at least reasonably well with the paddle switched to their weak side - not paddling with off-side strokes, but actually switching the hands on the paddle and switching sides.

Dead Leg Survey Response

I have crap for knees, and intend to paddle single blade for life, so I am very sensitive to leg pain. I try to keep tuning my rig until it stops. I hope this will allow me to paddle without damaging my legs. Anyway, the seat heights in my various outfitting efforts have progressed from early effort...

You the Man!

Thanks for the massive effort. That's a lot of derned cut-and-pasting!

Helmets off, and a big one-bladed salute to you for doing it.

I like:

"C-1, be one!"

and

"Show some rubber butt!"

And Charlie Daniels never knew what he said:

"Rollin' 'em high and ridin' 'em easy"... C-1 style

The line on rope

One armchair nautical buff says rope is rope until it is assigned a specific task - so one would clean the rope from a friend's garage, and then use it as a line, to tie a boat to a vehicle, etc... Anyway, I have had good luck cleaning old rope by soaking it in mild detergent and water, with a coupl...

Just Do It!

I started C-1 after only a year in OC-1. My roll was marginal at best in open boats at the time. I found no real downside to paddling C-1, right out of the gate. On the benefit side, I went to the pool more often with the C-1. It is easier to carry, and smaller boats can do more in a pool. My roll g...

Wet exit from a laid-back pin

An earlier posting raised what I think is a valid question: Can I get out of my boat if I am laying on my back deck? I have knee straps that I can't release or exit from without raising off my back deck to reach them. I know I couldn't blow my new sprayskirt without using my knees - laying back, my ...
