Re: Shortening an H2O C1 Paddle
It seems like a lot of work, to shorten a paddle 1”. How long will it take you to wear down the blade an inch? Can you swap paddles with someone? ...

Re: shorten my paddle
The Werner Nantahala paddle has a fiberglass shaft so the T-grip is most likely epoxied in place. No amount of heat is going to loosen the T-grip. The best solution is to cut the shaft just below the T-grip then using a 1/4 inch wide ...

Re: shorten my paddle
Saddle height is one thing, but going from the stern of a tandem, to solo, to C-1, I tend to use shorter paddles - for me, the smaller the boat, the shorter my paddle. So, if I cut a paddle for OC-1 and it feels short, I could always use it C-1.

I also like the same paddle length regardless of saddle height.

Re: shorten my paddle
Yarnellboat:"If you cut it too short, you can just take up C-1ing!"
It has surprised me that my 61" slalom paddles feel right, whether I'm paddling c-1 on a 6" seat or OC-1 on a 10" seat.
Could suggest that I'm doing something wrong, but it feels so right!

Re: shorten my paddle
For what it's worth, I've found the epoxy used by Werner to be a great deal stronger and more heat-resistant than their new plastic t-grips. I haven't gotten one out intact.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I'll try to modify it and let you know how it goes. Hopefully I don't make it too short.

... out, then you have to cut below it and might end up with too short a paddle. And you have to make a new T grip, or call Werner and see whether ... to make sure it won't ever come out, and presumably you won't want to shorten it again so you don't care if it ever comes out again. 4. You can ...

Re: shorten my paddle
I don't think it is the "leverage" of a longer paddle, but rather the vectors, the geometry of cab forward paddling. But in the end, it comes down to what feels right. With my long torso, if I drop much below 61" at all, the whole business just ...
