Esquif Zephyr XL
... XL version of the zephyr? I’ve not paddled either the original or the new big boy version but it does look interesting. I paddle a Viper 12 but it has some “issues” & I’m looking for a good III & IV river runner. I’ve grown to like the edges on the viper as it is snappy without being a hazard & think ...

Re: Millbrook Big Boy as OC1?
Klaus,
If your friend is comfortable in the Defiant, the Big Boy would be even more comfortable with a lot more volume and boat width.

Re: Millbrook Big Boy as OC1?
Hallo Kaz
we had to drive a realy long distance to test and there is no realy white water. How similar is the Big boy to the Defiant ? I think we can test one on a local slalom course nearby. If Thomas would be comfortabel in the Defiant, would the Big Boy be ok for him ?

Re: Millbrook Big Boy as OC1?
Hello,
I only built 3 Big Boys and then discontinued the model.
The designer, Bob Connolly, weighs approx 240 lbs and paddles his Big Boy solo. 297 lbs? Maybe. There is only one way to find out.

Re: Comparing new OC-1 solos for 200+lbs
I have finally added a Condor to my list of big boy boats paddled so I feel that I can make an evaluation:
I currently weigh in at around 250lbs.
Option - Great Creek boat for <220LBS Paddlers. Wet for anyone heavier.
Agent 88 - I paddled the last prototype. Quick, forgiving. Good Creeker, maybe a ...

Comparing new OC-1 solos for 200+lbs
... on slalom-like stuff, so I'm hopeful about some of these new, longer big-boy boats.
Edit/Update - here's the Rapid Media article, it's a prototype scheduled for 2019, an edgy slalom kinda boat for 150 lbs +. Given it says 150+ and that it's aggressive without a lot of primary stability, I'm ...

Re: Covert 10.5 vs Rebel Handling?
... lbs, and I find my Ocoee doesn't keep me upright in places where a modern big-boy boat like a L'Edge, Octane 91, Condor... Rebel?, Covert 10.5? might. I found the Octane 91 too stable though, and would like something that is a little more nimble with the currents.

I can't remember if you or anyone else referred to the Defiant as the Fat Boy. Kaz or some of the early purchasers gave it that nickname. I don't think ...

Re: WTB: Drakker Wheelboy
Wheel Boy rocks for a play boat. It can run rivers too. at 190 it was good to go. Surfs well and I took its big brother down the LG with mega fun and SqueakyKnee has run the UG in one (WB) a number of times. Its a good buy and I will never sell mine.
