Re: Blink impressions

We had a slightly warmer day so went out paddling to celebrate a birthday. I had a blast playing at the Nantahala Falls boofing over the upper hole then punching thru the meat of the lower one. The boat makes it so much fun and easy just like my Lite L'Edge.

Re: ... 'cause it's all about the water.

... lots of technical stuff, and some breathing space between rapids. At higher water it is less technical, but also less breathing time. Its still a blast. Clear Creek (Shasta County), Battle Creek(Shasta County), and the Shasta River Canyon are highly dependent on the water levels. Clear Creek is ...

Re: Whithewater tripping solo canoe

... The closest boats to the Genesis today are probably the Esquif Vertige, Outrage X and Wenonah Recon. I've also know people to set up the Esquif Blast as a solo tripper. Perhaps the Esquif Raven would be worth a look. It's shorter than a Rival, but wider and might fit your definition better of ...

Re: Blink impressions

... like a lite L'Edge at this cfs except since the boat is so light I have to be more attentive to the bow in swirly water. The wave trains were a blast as were the small ledges that I boofed and stayed dry. The water diverts off the front (bow) like the Ion which is wonderful in wave holes. The ...

mohawk xl-14 $450

... and single lap belt outfitting. Older but in good shape. My brother and I took it on a 5 day camping trip on the Arkansas last summer. It was a blast and the canoe did great. Selling cause I have no-one around here who wants to paddle tandem with me. Boat is located in IL.

Got a beat up Caption. A winter project to outfit tandem/solo with removable saddles. Thanks for all the input.

Blackfly Octane 92 - Tandem canoeing

Hey Cboats - here's an edit to probably my last tandem run of the season. It's been a blast tandeming with friends all summer in the Octane, but creeking season is coming soon! :) https://vimeo.com/75710086" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; If you like ...

Re: Second thoughts on a Blast

I like the Vertige X. It is stable, dry and responsive enough to take down the Upper Gauley or most Southeastern Creeks. The Blast is certainly more high performance, but the Vertige X surfs well and boofs great. I realize Ashevile is a long distance from you, but mine is available for ...

Help me choose a boat

... new boat. It is going to be a few years before my daughter is really ready to tandem with me so I think I want a solo boat. Do i want a: Probe 13 Blast Outrage X Other? I am leaning towards the Mohawk Probe 13 only because I thought the 14 with the triple setup would leave to much open space.

3rd hat in the ring

Own a Caption, have paddled a Blast, and tried a Bell Nexus this weekend on pin ball 3+.

The Nexus impressed me, carved well, good secondary, average dry. Worth looking at.

Two paddlers @ 200lbs each.

Re: OC-1 for bigger driver

I know an old-school boater that isn't a big guy (probably 180 or less), but he loves his blast set up solo. Not my cup of tea, but if you prefer 13' boats, it is probably a good one to try.

Re: Second thoughts on a Blast

I can't compare the Probe to the Vertige, as I've only paddled the former. I took full advantage of the triple saddle a couple of years ago for a (rather silly) race that both of my older children wanted to partake in. Our first time in the boat was the starting line and with 3 of us in the boat, th...

Sounds like we are in the same boat, I'm 6'2" 275#. I was recommended a Esquif Blast. Thoughts?

Re: Second thoughts on a Blast

. . . Personally I would take a Vertige-X any day over a Probe 14. Speaking of Probes, I'm reminded of a great quote from Paul St. Pierre's excellent book, Smith and Other Events : Smith is trying to sell a horse to Narcisse. Smith says, "There is that young stud I got. He is just like his father. ...

Re: Second thoughts on a Blast

Not to dampen things here but you really need to try the Probe 14 before you buy it. I have paddled one once with my wife and tandem we were at the time 400lbs combined. With the lighter partner in the bow we found it MUCH wetter than a VertageX and slow. Personally I would take a VertageX any day o...
