Re: Custom c1 skirts?

Re: Choosing a boat to convert
... as an issue.
If memory serves correct he Inazone is the widest of these three boats. Is there such a thing as "ideal" hull width for a C-1? Is wider better as a beginner?
I did have a Hydra Centaur many moons ago before I became a responsible adult with kids and what not...
Thanks for the input!

... makes it hard to get into anything else. Being wildwater paddlers it does not feel fast but it is a lot faster than a Atom or Cascade, let alone a Centaur.
Most paddlers do tend to really stare at it today - not sure if they wonder if they are in a time machine or simply what in the world the boat ...

... for bony rivers and flat out play... Obviously not nearly as responsive and the lack of real edges to carve on caught me a bunch - but it was a huge step up from the centaur and lightyears ahead of the sage.
The outfitting was actually pretty good - decent saddle, good straps. no major complaints.

Re: Boat of the Week - Perception Gyra Max
... While it sort of deserved its nicknames of "GyraPig" or "Oil Tanker" it was better than its Tupperware predecessors or contemporary (Hydra Centaur)) It might not have been eager to track or turn but it side surfed decently and was the best boat for that other obsolete move of enders I have ...

FS: Hydra Centaur
Who here has the Hydra Centaur for sale on comission at Outside World in Dahlonega GA? The hull doesn't look too abraded but the plastic yields a fair amount of flex to the touch.

In Answer to Your Question
JRSH92,
I owned a Hydra Centaur C2, and should never had sold it. Lots of good times in that boat. Had to make room in the garage for other boats.
Anyway, in answer to your question, if I put a very lightweight person in either the bow or stern (think 8 year old) and had them tuck forward when we ...

gyramax compared to hydra centaur
By the way, Marclamenace, the old Centaur was a decent boat for just going down the river, especially for those new to the C-1 experience, but in comparison to the Gyramax, there really is no comparison. The Hydra boat had no character- it was as round everywhere as a boat could be. No edge anywhere ...

I use to own a Hydra Centaur. It was early in my C1 days so my abilities were not all that great. It felt like it had a much larger volume than a Gyramax and I found the Gyramax to be more responsive and easier to roll. The Gyramax did snappier eddy turns . However, the Centaur wasn't that bad a ...
