Re: Kayaker dislocated shoulder moving to oc1

... I found the low kneeling posture intolerable in that boat and decided to try a kayak. Bought a blem kayak at a canoe club auction (Dagger Crossfire). I have continued to paddle both open boats and kayaks (and occasionally even a Dagger Cascade and Atom C-1) since. My perspectives: I would ...

Hemlock Canoes / Dave Curtis

Does anyone know what is up with Hemlock Canoes? The site is gone, and I can only find old info on them. I've added some info to the site of past boats they built, designed by Harold Deal, and was hoping to find a few images (SRT, Crossfire, Dragonfly).

... glassy waves as long as you weaved a lot. I gained more skill from boating the Atom than the Cascade. My memory was that the Cascade followed the Crossfire and the Atom followed the RPM. I thought these kayak/C-1 pairs looked similar.

I was the green boat racer in the 2009 green race

I absolutly love the green boat! I am a conversion paddler though(crossfire, freefall (2008 race boat), and a kingpin). All of those boats are pretty narrow so I guess that ive just gotten used to the tippyness. I also have about a three inch saddle in the ...

... Jim Snyder got wind of their antics and began designing skinnier boats, which set off the squirt-boat revolution. With their creation of the Crossfire kayak in 1991, former Olympian Chris Spelius and designer Steve Scarborough touched off the boat-design wars. The Crossfire's curved ends ...

crossfire

If you click on Search, top left corner, you will get several opinions of the crossfire- in general they were not favourable.

There is a nice Atom for sale in Charlotte, not mine, I wanted it but I can't afford it with the new boats I'm getting-

Dagger Crossfire

Does anyone have experience paddling a Dagger Crossfire as a C1? I have an opportunity to buy one for cheap. I have been looking for a Cascade, but thought I'd see what you guys thought about the Crossfire.

Thanks!

... And yes, a Redline also makes a great C-1 - that could have been mentioned in the previous "conversion for a big guy" thread. I don't think a Crossfire would make a good conversion either, while, superficially it looks like a Cascade, they differ a good bit, especially in width. Scott

RPM Conversion

I've been trying to get a used Atom for quite awhile now, but it seems they're all back east. I live in northern California. I've got a chance to pick up an old Crossfire and an RPM here locally. Do either of these kayaks convert well to a C-1?

... once. BAD idea. GREAT beginner 'yak (as is the Response...Dagger's "response" to the "Dancer" as I recall (for larger paddlers anyway...crossfire for smaller paddlers as I recall)). The Attitude had great secondary stability, but not enough primary...which for a CBoat meant you were ...
