... using a crummy heat gun and a scraper to break up whatever glue is under there, but its just not working. I don't want to damage my awesome Dagger Genesis I'm setting up for long wilderness trips. Will MEK or Acetone dissolve the glue or will it also dissolve the vinyl on top of the ABS plastic ...

I saw an Outrage X for sale on Bend craigslist, under boats.

Also, a friend was selling a Genesis, though that seemed pretty far down on the "wish list".

Looking for OC-1 in CA

... price...basically, if you're just trying to get it out of your storage space. Rival Probe (except 11, that thing was just awful) Shaman Outrage Genesis (as a last resort, lol) The following are boats I am not interested in unless they are practically free, and I'm just listing them to avoid ...

Ha! Yes, Pat -- this is the ad that got me thinking in the first place. . . A dangerous precedent!

Thanks all for your input. Maybe I was hasty in parting company with my old V-12!

More stories!

Re: Reuse, recycle. . .

You had me at cheap. I think the Genesis would be worth a go! In fact, if search that on here, I think there are some posts about this already that mention the Genesis as a tandem.

Re: Reuse, recycle. . .

... seem to be many tandem playboats around. And, while I have the itch to own my own Octane 92, I don't yet have the scratch. A random ad for a cheap Genesis f/s recently triggered this inquiry. Wondered how it would work as a student tandem boat on Class II. Rick

Reuse, recycle. . .

... bad boat! And there's lots of tandemized MEs around. So -- wondering what other older solo hulls have been converted to tandem. Anyone converted a Genesis? Rival? Ovation? Viper? Outrage? Rampage? Prophet?. . . Reviews? Thanks in anticipation! Rick

Re: OC-1 with seat

The Vertige, no x, might also be an option. It's easy to install a regular canoe seat hanging from the gunwales, and knee cups, straps, etc…That would work well in CII.

Of course there are other possible boats:
caper
genesis
H2 pro
piranha
probe 14
xl series such as XL 14 or 15

Re: Open boat for a bigger paddler

Bell Prodigy X, Esquif Vertige X, Mad River Outrage X, Dagger Caper, Dagger/Mad River Caption, Dagger Genesis, Mad River ME, Mohawk XL 13, Mohawk XL 14 are all traditional appearing canoes that have been considered good for a larger paddler. The Dagger Rival I would say is ...
