Re: River Elf Storm Chaser M - used - for sale

I was hoping the Fast Howler was a normal Howler that someone put mothballs in the gas tank

Re: River Elf Storm Chaser M - used - for sale

The Fast Howler is just a Royalex Mad River Howler that I bought from a fellow in the DC suburbs - set up as a triple. Great solo or tandem.

Advice on royalex repair

Hi, I’m newish to whitewater and have never had a whitewater canoe but I’m very into it. I was given a royalex mad river howler that needs a lot of work. The hull is pealing in a number of places does anyone have advice on how to patch it?
Thanks!

C-boat for 120 lb 11 year old to learn - which to pick

... old son is ready to learn more of running his own boat (after years paddling a kiddie Thrillseeker following my daughter and me in our Mad River Howler, as well as a bit of time in a surfski in the ocean). I've got several C1s from which to pick for him and am trying to figure out the best learning ...

New to me New Wave Grokshark C2

... will mainly be with my 11 and 14 year old kids, which will be quite an upgrade from the Hydra Duet they are familiar with (our other kid boat is a Howler OC-2). I suspect my wife may join me in it some though she vastly prefers OC-2 to C-2. Thanks for your input.

Re: Twister Vs. Edge Thoughts from...

Never paddled a 15' Edge. A very uncommon boat at races I've been at. The boat I would suggest is the Howler. Kaz makes them, and Mad River made them for a few years in Royalex. A really fine boat for heavier paddlers. A close second would be the Prowler. A Prowler is +/- ...

Re: Thoughts on Esquif Blast??

... solo boat for all but the super-big (both weight and height). If I were you, I would try to borrow an Ocoee, and take it for a spin. I find the Howler to be an excellent solo boat for me at 230#. I know, conventional wisdom suggests a 15' boat can't be fun, sporty, and spinny. But, for me, it ...

Re: Thoughts on Esquif Blast??

... for a long fast slalom-like boat, you've made two good choices: Encore and Outrage X. I suggest, the next two boats to try would be the Ocoee and Howler. Both of those boats are actually raced, and feel sporty to me at 230#. My observations of the Bast suggest it will be a crazy-dry and spinny ...

Looking for a Millbrook Hooter

Anyone got a Millbrook Hooter they would want to part with? A Howler would be acceptable too. I am willing to do a cash or cash/trade deal with an Esquif Spark that I can let go.

I'm in Pittsburgh PA. Thanks

Re: Millbrook M.E. Thoughts

... the ME was not the best tracking boat I have ever paddled but that could have been due to inexperience at the time. I currently own a Millbrook Howler that was made in the mid 90s and it is still going strong. I don't run it into rocks on purpose but I am not afraid to bump and scrape it. Plus, ...
