Re: Covered Canoe 1 man - $200 (Saratoga Springs, NY)

Maybe a Noah, but don't think it is a Jape -

I took those pictures of one I saw in NC - pretty sure the ID is correct, can't swear to it, though.

Re: Covered Canoe 1 man - $200 (Saratoga Springs, NY)

I was actually wondering if it was a Jape - with the machines glassed in (what it looks like) might be one of Jim Underwood's old boats. Of course, I'm not clear on how many he's sold either... he has a nice historic collection himself...

Looks like a model just before the Fanatic.
I think it looks like a Noah boat - Jape? or might be a Max II

Re: New C1 to me

Which Atlantis? He made more versions, it's the successor of Jape. Atlantis III is pictured here in the CBoat museum. Resembles Jape a bit.

Re: Which is bow, which is stern?

... Slalom C1-ers almost never use a power stroke behind the cockpit. Thanks, so this is the reason behind strange looking C1s like Vaňha (Noah)'s Jape, Galasport Makao (and nearly anything from Galasport :D )? And what about those short, pointy "wings" on some C-1s? edit: Definitely early 80's. ...

... 11', as I think 10' or 10.5' would be good. If I want a longer boat there are plenty of 13' slalom boats to pick up (older models for high volume (Jape or Max II anyone?)), shorter to 12' (or even 11.5' many times) without much trouble. I'm planning on paddling the Amoeba at the armada (10.5'), ...

... Moved to Nashville in June of '81 and bought a 16' Blue Hole OCA. Joined TSRA and got a big jump on open boat skills progression. Next came a Noah Jape C-1. Moved to Erwin and the Nolichucky, Frankie was a guide there and we paddled a lot together. He was into slalom and mostly paddled a kevlar ...

The Noah Atlantis was not a race boat. It was for general river running. Noah made the Jape for racers, in the early years.

Chuck, Best I can remember Vladamir only had 3 C-1 molds - Jape (wings), Ultramax (his mold had a groove down the center bow and stern) and the Atlantis. I built 3 or 4 boats out of the ultramax mold - for each one he gave me a small paper ID card to ...

Noah Jape or Atlantis

... years ago when I was purchasing a raft from this outfitter. I am getting the boat for $75, not bad for a slalom project. This boat looks like the Jape, but is yellowish on top and natural on the bottom. It is probably not as flat as a Jape either. There is a Noah logo, I think on the bow. It looks ...
