Re: Millbrook Hornet, Valley Mill Magnet, New Wave Acrobat for sale

Thanks, I think I will pass, what I'm really looking for is a 3.5 meter race layup slalom boat.

Cheers

Aargh!

Re: Millbrook Hornet, Valley Mill Magnet, New Wave Acrobat for sale

... River Elf Storm Chaser. Vann Evans had it built by Kaz and I think it is the standard Millbrook layup. It has great glide for a cruising C1. The Magnet is a nice paddling boat also - different, but more mellow overall and more comfy with the flatter bottom. Not as fast as the Hornet for sure. ...

Re: Millbrook Hornet, Valley Mill Magnet, New Wave Acrobat for sale

May be interested in the lower volume Millbrook. What is the layup like? Is it a heavy boat?

Thanks

Hey, I know that Acrobat. I think I modified the cockpit when I had it.

Millbrook Hornet, Valley Mill Magnet, New Wave Acrobat for sale

... cruising c1 I’ve ever paddled - as fast as my Fanatic. Would be a great c1 race boat like for the Gauley Animal or for cruising. $600 Valley Mill Magnet is worn but ok condition. A great all around cruising hull. Comfortable and predictable. $200 New Wave Acrobat has wear but is in quite good ...

Re: Long Lost C-Boater wondering: what to paddle?

... is as fast as my old Fanatic, and fun to paddle - not super comfortable with the rounded hull but a really fun and fast boat. 3. My Valley Mill Magnet is pretty worn. Speed is only ok but really comfortable - Victor at Class 5 boats makes these. Comparison of the Hornet and Magnet at https://cboats.net/cforum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7970535 ...

Re: C1 & C2 Boating

... is the exception as it actually responds better when you can push your weight into a stern squirt or pirouette. So there's the Blackwater and Magnet, two boats I know little about that might fill the bill for heavier paddlers. Oh, and the Storm Chaser which I know is a good performer, its ...

Re: Hornet and Magnet comparisons

I think the Magnet would hold weight equal to or better than a Gyramax. It is a pretty big boat for glass.

Re: Hornet and Magnet comparisons

Here is a little information: https://www.cboats.net/c_db/list.php?type=1&alpha=M&boat_id=111&name=Magnet I'd forgotten I need to measure the Magnet; I have one out of the "new" mold (Class V composites has a mold now...). Plenty of volume (more than the Hornet). The Hornet ...

Re: Hornet and Magnet comparisons

Does anyone know what kind of paddler weight the Magnet can handle, or possibly its dimensions. I have an eye out for another boat, and I might keep an eye for a Magnet if it can float me. Thanks.

Re: Hornet and Magnet comparisons

Just for the record, Bob P is the designer of the Hornet. I met him once several years ago in the Ingles parking lot in Bryson City. I started talking to him because he had several unusual cboats on his racks. I told him that we had 2 Hornets and thanked him for the design. we had a great discussion...

Re: Hornet and Magnet comparisons

I live in CT and take 81 when I go back and forth to Bryson City. Next time I'm traveling back from B.C., I'll give you a heads-up. I can bring the boat with me.
