Re: Option vs. maxim

Since the Echoee was mentioned, I will put in a plug for my buddies at MT Canoes. They are doing a version of the Ocoee called the FH, after Frankie Hubbard. They also do a version called the MO (modified Ocoee) which is 15" shorter. I have one of the lightest FH's at 19 pounds ...

Re: Option vs. maxim

If you want to go old school design with new school materials, check out the "Echoee" as well (based on the Ocoee of course...). I've paddled the Option and original L'Edge and liked them both, but really like the lighter weight of the Echoee and responsiveness. I'm roughly your ...

Option vs. maxim

I'm a 40 year veteran of kayaking and starting to have an interest in OC-1. Rivers I will be paddling are Tellico, section 4, ocoee, tallulah, cheoah etc..3-4 stuff. Don't have the patience to demo. I usually buy, try and sell. Last year I bought a Mohawk maxim. Way too unstable for me. ...

Re: Who was the first person to put a "pump" in a canoe?

The first canoe with an electric pump I saw was in the late 1980s on the Ocoee. The guy who had this set up called it the EZBailer and he would offer to sell the components. He had an EZBailer sticker on the side of the Whitesell Piranha he paddled. I don't ...

Re: Return of the Blackfly Ion....

... the new Ion, and I gotta say, Jeremy really nailed it with this one. I’ve been paddling the gen 1 Ion for a year or more, on everything from the Ocoee to the Rocky Broad, and I love it. It’s hands down one of the most fun boats I’ve ever paddled. I could say it’s stable, forgiving, dry, and it ...

Silverbirch Rebel 11 in production

What happens when you modernize the Ocoee / Viper 11 and add that Silverbirch feel.... you get the Rebel 11. The gameplan has been to bring these boats in Feb '18, but I'd be lying if I said that I'm not tempted to get them stateside much sooner... ...

Re: Was/is the Caption a symmetrical hull?

I could be wrong but I say no. I believe the only royalex whitewater boat that was symetrical manufactured by Dagger was the Ocoee.

Re: Ledge or octane

... I am 180 pounds and the Octane 85 works great for me and is almost as dry as the 91. Also it is a great creek boat. If you paddle a L'Edge or a Ocoee on creeks, you will have no trouble with the edges on the 85, IMHO. I think most people pass them up because of the way they look and favor Options ...

Re: MT Canoes' website is up! For real this time!

... on the awesome MT Canoes! Amazing quality and such a pleasure to paddle AND carry up the take out trail! My SS weighs less than my old plastic/ash Ocoee. Speaking of my SS, I need to get them a better photo of my boat for the gallery. The German flag colors- black, red and yellow... really cool ...

Re: Wildwater Boat

... fast wildwater c1, but I can paddle it for hours. I've been down mid-level Class 3 rapids in it also and could probably manage getting it down the Ocoee ok, though it would not be a pick for that. These are very capable boats. You can probably find a good condition Loon or Monarch for in the $1000 ...
