Re: What are you nifty water bottle carrier setups for a small solo canoe with bulkhead?

... I finally made the transition to a modern, shorter, plastic boat (moving from an Outrage and Ocoee to a L'Edge SuperLite). ... Part of it is that I'm not loving the bulkhead, but hopefully I can just keep carving &/or glueing until I get it right. Though I can't figure ...

Re: Spark vs. Ocoee

FWIW, I paddled both and enjoyed both. If you slalom race at all, you'll favor the Spark but won't be outclassed in an Ocoee. The Ocoee is perhaps more versatile - people creek and playboat in them. I wouldn't turn either down...

Re: Spark vs. Ocoee

I think this boils down to more paddling style than paddler size. The Spark cab forward design demands continuous paddle from the front. It really dislikes stern corrections. The Ocoee is much more forgiving to us old school Bob Foote types.

Spark vs. Ocoee

Looking to purchase 1st OC1 - i'm 5'4". ~140 lbs. Paddled an Ocoee for a few days last year at MKC. Based on what's available used in my area (Toronto), i'm looking at an Esquif Spark or Novacraft Ocoee. I liked the Ocoee and had a blast in it, wondering ...

Re: Silverbirch Agent 8.8 Vs Covert 9.3

... but lacks the top end speed of the Covert. We class the Agent as a creeker. When at Alf this year, I would have chosen to use a Covert on the Ocoee, and Little River Canyon then the Agent on the Citico and Little River (Smokeys), and I would have happily paddled either on the Middle Telico. ...

Re: What are you nifty water bottle carrier setups for a small solo canoe with bulkhead?

... have the same question! After much hemming & hawing, I finally made the transition to a modern, shorter, plastic boat (moving from an Outrage and Ocoee to a L'Edge SuperLite). Did my first run this past weekend. It's early days in this relationship with my new boat, but suffice to say that I would've ...

Re: Who was the first person to put a "pump" in a canoe?

The first canoe with an electric pump I saw was in the late 1980s on the Ocoee. The guy who had this set up called it the EZBailer and he would offer to sell the components. He had an EZBailer sticker on the side of the Whitesell Piranha he paddled. I don't ...

Re: why would you not use a pump?

... paddling while full, and planning dumping eddies are all parts of the historical sport, to me. I've only seen a pump once -- in 1987 on the Ocoee when test paddling a Whitesell Piranha with Nolan. In my early days, a common solo canoe was an 80+ pound, 17-2 Old Town Tripper. They were paddled ...

Re: I need to demo some Millbrook boats.

Well, Hook, my Prodigy X is 1'6" longer than your Ocoee. I have one bar at the extreme front end of the factory rack tracks, and one at the extreme rear end of the tracks. They cannot be farther apart. I also have one in between, since I often carry ...
