Re: 20/20 reviews for 230# please

... to be driven as opposed to just floated. She has a volume that I appreciate and I do not feel oversized for it as I do in many other boats. The Option, Viper 11, & L'edge all felt too small for me even though the L'edge is just one foot shorter and very similar design. The Viper 11 is of course ...

Re: Time for a New Boat

... of your replies. I had looked at the MT FH a couple of years ago but then went back and it looked they were out of business. I'll look into that option. We don't have ready access to OC-1s out here (used market is near non-existent) and so it's a bit of gamble, so I'm trying to do my homework ...

Re: Time for a New Boat

... composite. I used to have a Zephyr and find is much less responsive than the Echoee. I don't think you'd find it a good substitute. Similarly the Option and L'Edge. I own and Option and find it a nice creek boat, but its short length makes it slow for a down river boat. The L'Edge is a bit of ...

Re: Time for a New Boat

... in a solo open canoe that turns well, you are in luck and have several superb options all in plastic in the likes of the Esquif L'Edge, Blackfly Option (maybe Octane 85 or Condor) or Silver Birch Convert (maybe Agent or the Rebel that you mentioned). Plastic really opens up your paddling possibilities. ...

Galasport CHOP SHOP 4m slalom boat alteration question

... it's not winning any beauty contests as it is. I don't mind paddling a frankenboat so long as it's interesting and fun. And failure is always an option. Let me know what you think. ML

C1 conversion bulkhead questions

... setup? My general impression is that bulkheads work well for some paddlers. If so, how? When I experiment with backing off the foot pegs in my Option, I tend to fall out of the saddle when I try to roll. One of the variables that seems to be important is that, in an OC1 like the Option, there ...

Ion VS "mid-length" modern boats

Any comparisons from people that have paddled the Ion and also paddled other shorter, more modern whitewater boats (option, octane, ledge lite, etc)? Coming from a 12ft Outrage, I'm curious as to what the momentum loss is between the Ion and other more moderate "mid length" 8-9 foot ...
