FREE Millbrook Shacho (still available, needs work)

... two-piece thigh straps. There's space in the front of the saddle for a pump, and a port hole in the bow for the discharge. This would be a great project for someone who wants to practice their glass work and isn't afraid to paddle something a little ugly. I was looking forward to it and had considered ...

... J never really panned out, but we're still at it trying to progress the sport! I've been spending most of my pandemic time on a long time passion project I've been meaning to see through, an updated Instructional series centered around whitewater canoeing in modern canoes. The aim is to create ...

Re: Varathane or Varnish for Flatwater Canoe canoe?

Thanks very much for all the responses, I really appreciate it. I am looking forwards to getting after this project. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I have picked up some work after I lost work from the virus so it may wait another week or two. Once I get after it and see how ...

Re: My quarantine project!

Holy moses that's handsome. Funny when wood guys get some crossover action like this. I'm sure ash (or hickory) is the choice wood for gunwales because it's common in North America, you can find it straight, it bends, and it has incredible shock resistance. It's baseball bat material. Takes a lickin...

My quarantine project!

This past winter I was able to buy a barely used (two times) Silverbirch Covert! I spent several pool sessions working on my roll, until the ymca was closed down. As a trim carpenter by trade I couldn’t live with myself if I left the simple ash on my beautiful black covert. Now that I have had the t...

... around the ends of the bulkhead to get to the otherside. Does the boat require this cushion of foam to strengthen/protect the hull? As a winter project (cause it involves ripping out the saddle/bulkhead) any suggestions as to replacing the tiny tube, with what, and where? Thanks and Merry Christmas

Mosquito Burrito - A canoe for kids!

Hey guys, We have a unique opportunity to create a kids canoe at Blackfly, and the project has reached the state where we're taking pre-orders. So far the response has been overwhelmingly positive, and we're hoping that that'll lead to enough pre-sales where we can ...

... thin when applying. More so with ABS - keep it thin, put on thin and let it vap off prior to next apply. Hope this helps and keep us posted on the project.

Re: Repost, 18 foot Cedar Strip refinish questions/help

Yes, I am certainly going to glass back over the whole thing. I'm just trying to figure out how much time I want to invest in the project vs. what I'll get out of it. Replacing the strips sounds like a good idea...but possibly an idea beyond my capabilities as a wood-worker. Need to sleep ...
