Re: boats for sale: Batmax C-1, Torrent C-2

... Batmax would sit far lower still. I have an old Gyramax as well as the Batmax that is for sale, and the Gyramax has 2X to 3X as much volume. The Torrent was designed for a team with an absolute maximum combined weight of about 315 pounds, so if you are around 240 lb in weight, you'd have to either ...

Re: boats for sale: Batmax C-1, Torrent C-2

I'm in Niagara Falls area and am interested in either or both boats as an experiment. I am an OC boater for the most part these days, as I am not as small as I used to be.....I gave up my GyraMax when it just plain sat too low in the water.....ugh..... I was thinking about these two boats and possib...

Re: boats for sale: Batmax C-1, Torrent C-2

My brother-in-law lives in Trumansburg and teaches at Cornell. Crap! I wish I was in the market. He is coming down this weekend and both boats look really good for their age. Definitely good designs for training and tooling around on rivers.

I sincerely appreciate you sharing your experiences when designing the Torrent C-2's and the complexities of C-2 design in general. In making the comparison with the design transition from the Batmax to the Torrent/Torrent XL I was trying to make the point that retention of that sharper "S" bow may not be feasible when scaling up the design to float 2 paddlers. ...

Mary: As someone who was a member of the design team for the Torrent and Torrent XL slalom C-2s (from a slightly earlier period than the Grok Shark), I want to note that C-2 design can be even more tricky than designing a new C-1. This isn't said to discourage ...

Nice looking boat, watermite!

We sold our Torrent a few years ago, but still paddle the TorrentXL that we built in '84.

Re: any c-2's for sale out there?

By the 83' race season newer C-2s like the Torrent (followed by the TorrentXL in '84), the Triumph, and other designs were appearing. Judging by the photo, that Seda model seems to be somewhere ...
