Vertige X ?
I have owned a Caption and Dagger Dimension that I paddled tandem with my wife. Our Caption days are behind us and am interested in the Vertige X. Any thoughts comparing it to these classics? 210lbs stern 165lbs bow Looking for something sportier than the mighty Dimension for smaller rivers ...

Re: Solo canoe capable of camping but also up to class II
... often paddled Prospector style canoes solo down class III rivers (it's a great do-all canoe), so the Pocket Canyon would probably excel there. The Vertige is to small to trip as a tandem (Vertige X would be better), it's very much made to run whitewater. Most river trips aren't continuous enough ...

... it, but seem to remember it was pretty wet and a little squirrely for over 200 pounders, someone can refresh or correct my memory on this) Shaman Vertige Ocoee ....as if anyone is going to sell one...haha Open to other models I've overlooked, these are just the boats I've spent time in and enjoyed. ...

Re: Boat Width/Stability vs Height
If it's of any interest I have both a Vertige and Ocoee and live in Southern Ontario (Cambridge) if you wanted to compare first hand. As others have pointed out I wouldn't recommend the Vert as a dedicated WW boat - mine is also used for multi ...

Re: Boat Width/Stability vs Height
I agree, the Vertige is a big boat. I use it for self supported whitewater river trips.
On the other hand, the Ocoee is a classic ww canoe. Definitely not a beginner boat but because you have ww kayak experience it might very suitable.
Welcome to OC1.

Re: Boat Width/Stability vs Height
Just my $0.02, but I think you will find the Vertige a bit of a barge. It is quite a bit larger and heavier than the Ocoee and is overall more stable. It also does not have the distinct chines of the Ocoee which means it will not carve into turns ...

Boat Width/Stability vs Height
... would an Ocoee (Nova craft) be for a first boat of someone my size (140 lbs) - would mostly be river running around southern Ontario. How about a Vertige? Thanks.

WTB: OC-2 for Class II-III whitewater, mild tripping
... to use it on ww up to Class III plus some mild tripping. I'm familiar with the Mohawk XL-13/14 hull, but would consider a Probe 13/14, Esquif Vertige X or Pocket Canyon, etc. If folks have other suggestions about models to consider, put 'em out there! We're in NH but would drive to most places ...

Re: Multiday Rigging
With 48" float bags my Vertige has room for either a 50L barrel or 70L Sealine baja bag for and aft of the saddle. Gear strapped in or not is a bit of preference and the type of river, but I go strapped down tight so gear acts as additional ...

You should be able to search this forum for some information.
What kind of trips do you have in mind?
Do you already have a boat that you want to use?
I do 3-5 day trips, Vertige, saddle, big gear bag forward, smaller gear aft.
