My opinion (and I don't paddle IV - V whitewater) is that the detonator is a much more forgiving boat than the Ocoee so you won't get punished for your mistakes The Ocoee, on the other hand, will make you learn what the water is doing, keep you on edge, and it will put you in the water if you not pa...

Mine is still doing ok. Plastic blade is a little chewed up, but shaft is fine. How are most broken (at joint of blade to shaft would be my guess)? And Eddy, were they yakkers (much longer shaft)?

Dagger Ocoee would get my vote (sure the Viper will be on short list) as it's a good compromise on all, without being a total compromise on anything.

Awesomeness....when we get THERE maybe we could toot our own horns a little. For some strange reason, those that are there generally don't though. Hmmm.....

I don't think NY's Sewer system can handle all the crap that thing generates.

The perpetual high school reunion site ;) get a yahoo or gmail acct (dummy acct) and create a FB ID with dummy info. Like everything online, anything you post will be there for a LONG time, and may be seen by anyone - FB, twitter, flickr, etc. it's ALL out there if you know how to look.

I owned an Ocoee (tweaked a bit) :D and absolutely loved it. It was a very wet boat and the bow would plow under a wave if you hit it dead on. Of course, the tweaking made that worse than factory (shortened thwarts 2" in front close to 3" in rear, couple inches trimmed from the top) and a stock Ocoe...

I think that in a more traditional hull design that is true, but in looking at the bottom of the boat in pics (look on the 5 page post and see the boats upside down on Craig's truck) it isn't a traditional design. It's not quite there, but it reminds me a little of a tri-hull design (power boats). I...

Go to your local Wally World and hit the camping section. The air mattress pumps work great in the dump valves for air bags. You can go rechargeable, or battery operated, and sometimes a DC option that would plug into your cigarette lighter in your car.

Tweaked mine a few years ago too with my first attempts at a roll (before I figured out you should use a low brace). It still gives me grief from time to time, but not too bad.

If you go back and read some replies to one of your earlier poss (a few weeks ago or so), there are several replies that discuss taking dry lines, blocking waves, hitting the wave at an angle instead of head on. It was a post where you were pretty much dismissing advice from much more experience pad...

I've not tried it myself, but I've heard others swear by wider saddles to spread your weight a little more. From what I've read, users have actually been able to have a lower saddle height when the saddle is wider - maybe someone will pipe in that has one. I think Mike Yee has a wider version. On my...
