Squirt boating and beyond

In Snyders book he writes about bow screws, whirlygigs and washouts. Is anyone doing these c-1? I am comfortable cartwheeling, onside, not as comfortable offside, but I've not got the skills yet to control past vertical moves. Translating k to c, for the bow screw is it easier to do the initiation a...

plugs

making the transition to c1 a few years ago I found that if I was wearing my plugs I would keep rolling until I got it, even if it took 4 tries. If I wasn't wearing my plugs, I usually swam after two tries. I got in the habit of always wearing nose plugs, even after I could nail the roll every time....

new to me acrobat

it finnaly arrived! I've been dealing with the seller and the shipping company for months now, but it arrived today. I took it out to the lake and got in a few stern squirts a bow squirt a few rolls and a wet exit, not necessarily in that order. This is going to be a fun boat to figure out. I'...

Ian,
I've always found it better to get a 1/2 bun of foam from sweet composites and start shaping. you get a custom fit, a good chance to mess around with your boat in early spring before the snow really melts, and it's cheaper.

well actually it was a raft...

my first year raft guiding I bought a used Wave Sport Lazer, but I didn't paddle it in whitewater that year. I had borowed a friend's Genesis, I did the milk run and then brown's canyon the second or third time i paddled it. Not knowing how to roll a kayak, and being used to steering boats with a si...

I try to find the balance between pearling and unintentional stern squirts. most of my conversions have ended up 1/2" stern heavy. I'd rather think about my stern edges than pearl.

I had three days in a genesis before I bought my ocoee, but it was a deal I coudn't refuse, and I was guiding rafts at the time, so I was in the boat 3 days a week at least. There is a learning curve, but if you're running pool drop class 3 in NC what are a few swims until you learn to roll?

The Outrage would be a smaller step in getting used to a new boat, but with the Ocoee the edges you curse at first are so much fun to use once you figure them out. I wish I still had my ocoee, it was such a fun boat.

favorite asheville area runs

So I may have an opportunity to boat around asheville for a few days this spring, what are your favorites? Wilson's creek, nolichucky, cheoa, big laurel? This will be my first time boating east of the mississippi, looking for class iii-iv runs within 1-2 hs drive time from asheville.
