Re: Millbrook Rayge, Shacho feedback sought

From Dale: Written by the request of Michael Bolton (canoe designer) for a C-Boats members interest in comparing the Sacho and the Rayge both canoes made by John Kaz of MILLBROOK BOATS : I have been river running-composite canoes since the very early 80s. Mindful that the RUMBA was one of the finest...

Re: How's the Blackfly Delta at running rivers?

The original Blackfly was surprisingly good and very fun doing that...can guess the Delta is great too.
You could post on GDI on facebook and probably get some good feedback. I know there's a few on there who own the Delta.

Re: Millbrook Rayge, Shacho feedback sought

Dale Briggs would be good to ask...paddled both and believe loves his Rayge. I'll try and get a response from him or you can look him up on facebook under dale briggs photography.

Re: Can Millbrook Rival handle 250#'s?

The Shaman paddles fairly similar to the rival and is wuite fast as well. If you truly are only packing 50lbs gear I think both would be fine

Very nice! The build method sounds very interesting...have pondered doing something along those lines. :D

Re: L'edge vs. Blackfly Octane 85

Pejibaye, one other nice thing about the Blink is you could have Kaz put the gunnels on an inch lower to lower the sheerline when building it. I know Wendy has one down that way and has let many test drive hers :D

Re: L'edge vs. Blackfly Octane 85

Jim, I think you'd be fine in Big water at 220. On the flats it paddles easily, but is definitely no Shacho :D . Accelerates quickly but reaches top speed in 3 or 4 good strokes...but that said, on flatwater I think it moves along well enough and easily so don't feel worn out by the time you reach t...

Re: Waterproof (not 'resistant') Velcro?

Yeah :) We have some pretty heavy duty stuff here at work that holds up quite well (holding ankle blocks in place for several years), but have occasionally gotten some that isn't as good. Using the regular stuff should help.

Re: Waterproof (not 'resistant') Velcro?

I've had pretty good success with using weldwood contact cement along with the sticky backed velcro. :D

Re: New Millbrook boat for wife - Flashback vs. Shacho

The Shacho is a really sweet boat...and a great looker too! Aren't there a couple down your way? It seems like I've seen a few at Millbrook Day type runs with Wendy?

Re: Gunnel Repair

Since you are repairing on the boat...an epoxy probably is the best choice as it has good gap filling properties and good strength. If you were removing it, I prefer Titebond. If you have G-Flex that would be great, otherwise any good epoxy should do :)
