Re: Drilling Anchors in C1

Thanks!

What would make a good anchor for the strap to attach to? I was considering just bolting right through the webbing, but I feel like that could rip too easily. I know I've seen metal plates that have a bolt hole and a slit that could suit webbing, but have no idea where to find one.

Drilling Anchors in C1

Just wondering, what is the preferred method for adding anchors to a C1? I need to put a lap belt in.

C1 Playboat Pictures

Hey guys,

I'm working on tweaking the outfitting in my superstar. The thing hurts to be in for a while currently and bruises the crap out of my thighs.

Looking for some pictures of C1 playboat outfitting to get some ideas from.

Re: Portage wheels for my Ledge

Not quite what you are looking for, but it might help... I made a backpack thing that attaches to a thwart out of an old canoe tripping barrel harness. Nice thing about it is that it fits just like a hiking backpack, transferring almost all of the weight to my hips. Carried my boat for over an hour,...

Mamba 8.5 as C1

One of my friends has an older mamba 8.5 for a good price. Thinking of picking it up and converting it to a C1.

Thoughts on this conversion?

I am 5'7, 175lbs and am used to paddling a L'edge

Re: Helmet advice

It is generally accepted that the sweet protection rocker has the best protection. With the fit pads I've never heard of anyone not being able to get one to fit well. I broke a shred ready super scrappy and got a rocker afterwards. WRSI are also known as being really well made. I'm sure there are ot...

Re: C1 Roll

You CAN roll a canoe with a kayak sweep roll. I have one in my open boat. That being said, a proper C1/OC1 low brace roll is much more powerful. Also an aggressive sweep roll in a smaller C1 will make you stern squirt out. Only problem with the low brace roll is that it takes a bit longer to set up ...

Re: Drysuit zipper replacement

A dive shop will likely do this for you. NRS probably would too.

I would be skeptical doing it myself. Seems a lot harder than a gasket.

Re: Drysuit cleaning

If you wash it in a machine I would suggest putting it in a mesh bag first. This will ensure that the agitator can't damage it. I would be most concerned about damage to the seam tape.

Re: Drysuit cleaning

I have a second curtain rod in my shower that I use to dry and clean gear on. I have a spray bottle with a diluted solution of 'MiraZyme'. After a treatment or two I also give a quick hand wash with a special drysuit shampoo. All in cold water, hang to dry after. I like the zipper open for this meth...
