Re: Canoe Shipping Question
Kaz shipped a Shacho all the way to the Yukon, and it cost me just over $600.... So do your home work, it should cost you no more than a few hundreds dollars in the lower 48.

Re: Tandem canoe
It really depends what you want to do with it. But I would say buy it, paddle it, learn how to use it, outfit it with flotation and thigh straps, and you will be surprise how much a boat like that can do on medium to large size rivers, lets say 20 feet or more wide.... smaller than that and it could...

Re: Shacho west coast, 6 month check in
But at 230 is not as snappier... I don't know if "snappier" is the right term... But a great boat none the less!! I need to pass more time in it and these days I'm to busy working construction during the week and teaching canoeing on the week end.... But next weekend will be different!! I'll report ...

Great I notice the same thing with mine, coming from a Spark... Way more stable and dry, ferry like a dream... But not quite as snappy as the spark, but that could be just me!! A great boat over all!!

Re: Options for younger developing Open Boaters
As for paddles, the Aqua-bond edge is actually easy to re shape the blade to a smaller size, not only cut it length wise, but also trim the width.
So find a friend with an old "worn out" Edge, and re shape it to suit your kid!!

Re: whats the diff in wood and vinyl gunnels
Usually, wood gunnels make for a stiffer boat and lighter as well! Wood gunnels on a RX boat can be problematic if left on at temperature bellow(bellow -15F).

Re: Retirement Boat. Suggestions?
I have a Shacho that I just got and put very litle time in, but I have to say, that is a really stable boat, super forgiving, light weight even with the heavy lay up, mine come up at 35lbs fully outfitted. The boat is really fast and surf really well. I'm 6'2" and 230lbs, it float me well to!! Just ...

Esquif straps are definitely not my favorite, they don't stay put and the webbing is on the thin side.....

Re: OC-1 length and slalom course performance
I think I should of said to big.... Heavy... I paddle a 16' tripping canoe solo in class II II+ water, playing my way down the rapids, with surf and eddy turns, and I find it totaly good.... But the Outrage X was a heavy boat, and not that responsive for a 13+ feet boat compare to a Kevlar Viper 12 a...

I just acquire a Shacho, but unfortunately didn't have the time to paddle it yet   I think it will be a great all around boat( I ...

Re: Dagger Caption saddles placement????
I do undersand that, but I was wondering what would be the set up done by dagger from the designer input when they sold outfitted boats. At least a starting point. My idea is to have the pedestals moveable, like on daisy chains, so I can fine tune the outfitting and also set it up as a solo for tripp...
