question about abs slurry repair for royalex
I have a cold cracked dagger ovation that I got for a 12 pack. I want to know if when I use the abs slurry if I can lay fiberglass inside of it for structure. I already took the boat apart, ground an inch and a half thru the nylon on both sides of the crack. drilled end of crack. used g-flex to glue...

Paddle for a newbie
I'm a long time rafter and kayaker trying to get into a canoe. I have a shed full(actually considered building a fence with these) of Carlisle raft paddles. I would feel bad about grabbing these paddles off the river bank except for I never grab them from the water. In fact they are usually a couple...

Re: Does anyone canoe in Colorado?
I picked up both boats. Paid 300 for the mohawk. Paid a 12 pack of Odell's 90 shilling for the ovation since it cold cracked and the guy didn't want to attempt it. Guess I need to search repair now.

Re: Does anyone canoe in Colorado?
I talked with the seller and one of my river buddies. I'm going to pick them both up. We both kayak and raft. His son is a bad butt class v kayaker(runs the embudo, obj, and crazy stuff). He wants one too. He is the same size as me 6'1" 220# or so. Are we too heavy for these boats?

Re: Does anyone canoe in Colorado?
Did some more research. The paddling.com reviews seem to say that the ovation is dryer. Maybe I should just pick them both up. The mohawk probe review seems to say it's a great beginner boat. I'd like to hear from you guys though.

Re: Does anyone canoe in Colorado?
2 open boats just came up for sale near me. A dagger ovation, and a mohawk probe. Both with bags, for $300 each. Are these ok beginner boats? I would like to have a roll by summer so I'm gonna need something. It looks like the bow of the probe might be good for a dryer ride being a bit more bulb lik...

Re: Blackfly Option roll
I'm a beginner so I can't talk from experience but I saw a YouTube video of a guy saying his roll has become more unreliable in the new polyethylene boats. What he showed he had to do was brace differently holding the paddle lower and out farther I think. Now don't quote me I'm not the right person ...

Re: Does anyone canoe in Colorado?
I just sold my last kayak last summer for 100 with skirt. It was a 05 superstar. I was hoping to lose the skirt and go with the open boat. There is a biscuit 55 already modified near me on Craigslist for 350. I might consider it if it was a 65 being 220#s. I still have not joined the Poudre paddlers...

Re: Does anyone canoe in Colorado?
Copy that on the roll. I was hoping to find a boat before March. Every year around March fort Collins opens it's indoor pool to boaters practicing their rolls, and I was hoping to make it. I learned to roll a kayak in a pool, after trying a bunch of times with a buddy in the Eddy of the play wave in...

Re: Does anyone canoe in Colorado?
Being new would you recommend straps or bulkhead? From my boating experience I would think the bulkhead would be safer. I don't think I would be nearly as nervous about entrapment with the solid bulkhead. In the Denver Craigslist there has been a posting of 2 canoes, both esquif. A nitro with a bulk...
