Re: Suggestions for Slalom C1 and C2

John, I paddle a Vajda Magma 420 C2 and I found it to be fast and does not seem to have been any harder to paddle than the old Arguemax I started out in. I and my usual partners weigh in at around 330 lbs and I've had 360 lbs in it once and did not feel a real drop in performance. The weight ranges ...

Re: New Wave Grokshark C-2 for sale

Beautiful boat. Centered Cockpits? There's nothing like a C2 for surfing. I have two so I'm not in the market.

Re: wallace wallacing

Sorry to see your misfortune Harry. I saw a lot of boaters flip in that rapid (Buzzel, it is the name of an intersecting road but somewhat appropriate). One broken paddle in the mix. A friend dislocated his shoulder and broke some fingers there two years ago. Those that were successful hit the seam ...

Re: Kelly-Rand's Storm Chaser

Chris, Yesterday I had a great day paddling a local favorite, the Contoocook in NH. With the heel blocks and the sense that I had a good chance at rolling up in the surf, I paddled more aggressively went for those harder to grab eddies. So yes I think I've finally achieved a comfort level in the boa...

Re: Kelly-Rand's Storm Chaser

Nice setup Gwyn. A friend did a similar bulkhead in an Atom. I think today I have found the setup that works for me. The heel blocks made the difference in keeping me in place.

Re: Kelly-Rand's Storm Chaser

Since I revised the strap anchor point I still could not stay put beyond the first roll attempt. I've only had the boat on challenging water twice since I made the strap modifications. In August I did the LY loop and rolled in the last rapid above Railroad and it was successful but I was almost out ...

Re: Changing Sides

So my rule of thumb is if the other paddler is of equal or better skill than I then they get to paddle on their side of choice, otherwise I paddle on my on side and for offside moves we are limited by the skill of the other paddler. I usually paddle stern in our close cockpit C2. You should pick the...

Re: River Elf Storm Chaser

Well I've been putting off a review of my new Storm Chaser M that I've had for 2 months now. Partly this is because I really haven't been out very much on a river since the demo run. I don't have anything to add regarding the standard of care already acknowledged in prior posts. I can say that the d...

Re: anyone recognize the creek c1s in this vid ?

Well, I haven't had enough time on the river in challenging water this year to give a fair assessment of the boat. I had it out for the fourth time on easy water yesterday but I suffered from cramps due to not paddling for 3 weeks and a lot of biking. It does surf well and I seem to be able to attai...

Re: Go to boat?

My go to boat when I want to travel in style is my viper C1. It is a very graceful river runner and of all my boats it is the one that kayakers wish they could paddle. For the unknown river and rivers that require alot of manuvering in tight spaces the Dagger Atom has bee the boat of choice. It is t...

Re: Anyone ever chop the ends off a Gyromax?

I'm sure someone has tried, but the material that the gyromax is made of is very brittle and as far as I know un-weldable. Other boats of its generation have been made into mail boxes.

Re: Kelly-Rand's Storm Chaser

Chris, I am praying for a week of rain storms so I can get out and enjoy this boat. I would like to add an item to your suggestion box, and that would be an adjustable glass bulkhead. I'm thinking of something that would be the inverse of a kneeling thwart. It would be padded like the hip blocks and...

Re: Kelly-Rand's Storm Chaser

Here are some images of the thigh strap modifications i've made and tested with success today after some adjustments. SCh-lowAnchor.JPG The bottom anchor is approximately 5" C to C forward of the original this turned out to be too far forward. SCh-highAnchor.JPG I glassed in the high anchor 3 inches...

jfkoeppe

That is exactly what I had originally planned to do, but wanted to try a single strap solution first.
