From what I'm told, you'll be finding sand from the Canyon in your gear for years to come, so I say keep paddling it.bushpaddler wrote: I think I will pin it to my wall after that use it as a devotional object and not remove the dust of the canyon

I gotta agree with Jim on this one (and I'm glad someone else said it first). If you were looking to replace a couple of Crossfires used for instruction, would you be looking for something similar, or would you be looking at the modern crop of boats?

Re: Would you ever...
It usually takes me about a week's worth of paddling to really get a boat figured out, so for me a short demo or even one run in a boat doesn't make much sense. There have been time when I've hopped in a boat and been able to tell I didn't like it, but more often my usual reaction is 'I'd have to pa...

Re: Pump or no pump?
my least favorite thing about pumps is when you're talking to the guy next to you, and he flips on his pump and starts emptying his boat into yours. Actually, I have nothing against pumps, but I'm too lazy to put one in my boat, remember to charge the battery, etc. I put one in my tandem boat,...

Re: Red Can needs a friend.
I still use contact cement, but as Smurf said, don't let the second coat dry, just 'wet fit' everything. It'll set up, but takes longer than the normal method. This method also works well for things that might need some repositioning as you install them- like sidewall foam.

Re: Drysuits
Most people who know about these things say the Tropos suits are mainly for touring paddling. I pretty well agree with what Larry said. The Kokatat Goretex suits are the best money can buy and worth the price. I've had mine since 2007, and it's still going strong. I sent it back to Kokatat this summ...

That's correct. OC-1/OC-2, the 'tane 9' is the same.djutzi wrote:Looks great!
Just to confirm, OCtane92 is the same hull as OCtane91, with different outfitting, correct?

Re: Octane
Specs are 8'10.5" long, 31" wide, 16" deep. Outfitted weight with airbags is about 59lbs (I still need to double check that). It's a BIG boat for as short as it is. I got to paddle the solo yesterday, and at 170lbs, it felt big, but still felt extremely agile and very dry. I still need to get some m...
