I feel like I'm in the same boat as Jim- Right handed, Paddle left, and when I try to paddle right, I can't cross back over to the left at all. For the record, my background is in k-1, so I think I should be able to cross back over and control the paddle with my right hand, but it doesn't work. It a...

I was under the impression that Norwood Scott has done it in a c-boat, but I could be wrong about that. I'd be pretty happy to be a lefty coming off cherry bomb :o

I definately saw eli get out of his boat above sweets to dump, so he wasn't always cheating.

If I never paddle a slasher again, I'll be ok with that

Well, it was pretty LAME indeed, but not due to the organization/prize money- though I will complain about that a little later on, regarding the ottawa rodeo. It was LAME because there were only 3 c-boaters at each event (Joe had to work the saturday of the ottawa rodeo, and Seth's ride for the Otta...

I think that Joe's main issue is that out of the $5000 cash purse, none of it was going to go to the c-1 class, thus more for the kayakers. There are some behind the scenes politics, or at least the appearance of some politics, that I won't go into here. But it seems to have been resolved, as...

I'll be there, and I've already got the c-1 in the truck. Now we just need 2 more people to compete...I've been doing some work on my outfitting, so hopefully I'll be able to do more than just flatspin, and will be able to continue my streak of 3rd place finishes in C-1...

Thanks for all the tips/tricks. In the end, I didn't like the way the tubing was sitting on the boat, so I ended up shaping some strips of minicel (I had some long strips of the right size left over from the last one I did). The tip about pulling the form out while the glass is still "green" was a b...

Cockpit Rim repair/rebuild for the boatbuilders out there

So here's the deal- I've found another paddler to race the Cheat with me in my Old Skool end-hole C-2 (actually, it might be from before they even had Skool...), but I've realized that the cockpit rims are so gunked up from repairs to get skirts on and off easily, and fairly rotten to begin with, so...

It started out with a ratchet on one side, and the quick-release from a rescue PFD on the other. I found that I since the quick-release had the metal tri-glide on it (it was actually part of the belt from an old rescue PFD), I could actually tighten it pretty well. (if you just have the cam buckle, ...

Here's my set-up

I made my own, which incorporate 2" quick release cam buckles (ala rescue PFD style) and some big ladder locks. I drilled holes in the release levers on the cam buckles, and tied them together with some cord covered in plastic tubing. When I pull on the cord/tubing that joins the two buckles togethe...

Some ideas

I've converted a RAD 175 (same outfitting and cockpit size as the slick-stick). I pulled out the k-boat seat and thighbraces (actually the thighbraces were already gone, but that's another story...) and cut out the thigh brace mounting tabs. If you don't mind never being able to convert the boat bac...

I typically tie my WW boat (k-1) down on the side of the hull, against the stackers. the boat isn't completely on edge, but sitting with one side of the V against the bar, and the other side against the stackers. Since I'm now getting into c-boating (playboating), I figure I might as well try WWC1 a...
