Re: Jackson Karma Unlimited
Thanks for the Karma review, Class Five, very informative. I liked the part about being an extension of the paddler. Not to be a threadjacker, but if you had any experience paddling a Prijon Pure, I would be interested. Thanks.

Re: Gettin new folk
The fewer canoeists there are, the better I become by default and lack of competition. So I think it's a good thing. Why if I had the money, I would buy up all of the canoes, and then I would become the best canoeist on the planet!

Northern California boating
Not sure how long the water will hold out, but is anyone interested in running the Sacramento River, town run, the So. Fork Smith, or other seasonal flow Class III stuff in the next few weekends. I might be able to take a couple of days off. Or how about a long Memorial Day weekend trip to the No. U...

Ovation pedestal placement
In a Dagger Ovation canoe, does anyone know how far back the front edge of the pedestal backrest (the place where your butt or back meets the pedestal) should be from the center of the boat? I thought that maybe I should check this before I started glueing stuff in. Thanks.

Re: do I need a center thwart?
Thanks for the advice. I wasn't thinking exact center, I was thinking more like add a fifth thwart back of center, adding to the four in there that were pretty far forward and back, leaving a space in the middle. One of the gunnels got bent by contact with a rock, so I am wondering if it needs one m...

do I need a center thwart?
I don't mean to start a controversy, but I have an 11-foot Ovation boat with no evidence that it ever had a center thwart, it has a total of four thwarts. Do people generally put a center thwart in? That would mean buying tools and figuring out how to use them without destroying things, so maybe I w...

Re: ... 'cause it's all about the water.
How about an late spring/early summer rendezvous, all of the runs in the list above? That would be pretty cool. Or a mid-summer Tuolumne rendezvous would be good too. And maybe a Gorge rendezvous would be worthwhile. Having proposed the idea, I am now passing the torch to someone else to organize it.

Re: ... 'cause it's all about the water.
Since we've had this discussion about all of the great runs in California, not to mention the original topic regarding the need for rain, what about the Eel River Pillsbury Run, Scott Dam to Bucknell Creek? I never hear anyone talking about running this, but it sounds like a fine Class III run, OK d...

Fluid Flirt is a good conversion.
Since we're on this topic, has anyone converted a Jackson SuperFun?

Re: ... 'cause it's all about the water.
In some ways paddling in the East is going forward because it is more organized. There are some pretty good paddling events back East, like ALF, and Week of Rivers Fourth of July week. I went to Week of Rivers and it was a lot of fun, it's super organized, and you can run a different river every day.

Re: ... 'cause it's all about the water.
Thanks, Larry. I would like to run Edwards to Purdon, that would be a really good run, and if it's only a smidge harder than the So. Fork American.... maybe some of the other runs as well.

Re: ... 'cause it's all about the water.
Well, maybe there's some sour grapes on my part because other than the Trinity River it seems like it would be pretty hard to connect for a canoe trip on a lot of the rest of them. Some of them on the list above are not Class III-IV, such as Sacramento Box. That is a IV, according to the guide books...

Re: ... 'cause it's all about the water.
The SF American is probably going to be running, and that's about all I paddle anyways, because there is not much Class 2-3 or Class 3-4 in California, mostly CLass 4-5. Meh.

Hi Bruce. I have a Snapdragon C1 spray skirt that is made for a Cascade/Atom that I would be willing to sell. I live in Sacramento. I sent you an email.
