Re: Millbrook M.E. Thoughts
I have a Caption that is currently solo outfitted and had an ME as one of my first boats also outfitted solo. I like the ME better as a solo boat as it felt more nimble with just one person in it. Caption is definitely more of a tandem boat that can be managed as a solo. I did find that the ME was n...

Re: Question for Blackfly Option Owners
Looks like I responded in the wrong post: I'm 230 dry and paddle an Option. Switched from an Octane because it felt too stable and let me paddle sloppily. Been happy with the Option since I got used to it. First few low water trips had me getting tossed when bumping rocks. Now that I've adjusted to ...

Re: Ankle Blocks - Knee Pain - Fix?
Ill echo what Bob P said. I generally find that if my saddle is low enough to cause my knees discomfort getting my ankles as close to the bottom of the boat as possible helps to relieve some of the pressure. I do still use ankle blocks in those boats but only enough to barely support the natural cur...

Mad River Outrage
Blue Outrage with a perception saddle and no bags. $400. Hull is in decent shape. Has some scratches and a few minor gauges. No damage that is apparent to me on the inside of the hull other than old outfitting stains. The wood could use some work but paddles fine with what is on there for now.

Re: Fiberglass Mold Making
Been there, done that. I built paddles up until about 10 years ago. I sold about 70 of them, but it required 40 experimental prototypes first. (That was spread over flat blade, spoon blade, and unified spoon blade/integrated-shaft designs.) Building the original plugs was the easy part. It was getti...

Re: Fiberglass Mold Making
I am the proud owner of a Howler and paddling this boat is what spurred me to consider a composite project in the first place. Definitely not trying to infringe on anyone's design rights and this was not an issue that occurred to me when I first hatched this scheme. An honest thanks for the heads up...
