Owyhee River-drinking water?
The decision has finally been made! We are off to the Owyhee River instead of North Fork of the John Day. Can we filter and drink River water? I've been told that it has a high arsenic content. We will be unable to carry sufficient water for the entire trip, despite stopping at the spring up mile 18...

Marc, Great pictures! Thank you so much for sharing. So our raft support had to cancel, so we are now down to three canoes going self contained! Right now it's a race and on how quickly which river drops. I had a nice conversation with the Owyhee River ranger, Dave, and his personal guess is that by...

North Fork the John Day
Trip leader has canceled our Desolation Canyon Trip end of June I'm looking for information regarding the North Fork of the John Day. My understanding is that it's doable in open canoes above 2000 CFS. Anybody have any thoughts and or suggestions? I'm also thinking about the Deschutes River. Sharer ...

Marc, Thank you for your information regarding the Owyhee. Our launch date for the Green River is June 25th, currently the gauge at Green River is at 29,500 CFS and expected to climb to about 40,000 by the 10th of June. One of the big issues is that the Yampa hasn't even crested yet! Unfortunately, ...

Nice video! And thank you for the feedback! It's neat to see somebody else doing self contained trips in Dimensions. The group has already done the John Day, this year we're looking for something new if possible. Another possibility is lower section of the Deschutes. We will just cross our fingers a...

Owyhee River
Asking for information regarding the Owyhee River is the lower section suitable for open canoes with raft support? Or have we already missed the "window"? I'm looking for a Plan B River, as I think the flows on the Green River- Desolation Canyon are going to be too high on our launch date June 25. T...

Thank you for your information :D ! Big thing is hoping that there isn't a rapid similar to " Snow Hole" On this section of the Green We will have two support rafts, So the canoes will only have to carry personal gear. Two the tandem canoes will not have any problem dealing with big water , that the...

Yes, Desolation Canyon, Green River in Utah. We got a launch date for June 25th. Thank you for your link :D There's a high probability that we will still be dealing with the tail end of the snow melt flows, so I think we could be looking at between 6000 and 10,000 CFS. The majority of write-up's I'v...

Green River desolation sound ?
So what would be considered on the high-end regarding flow for the Desolation Sound section of the Green River in open canoes, loaded with gear? There'll be Dagger Dimension and Legend, Mad River Revelation and Synergy, and a Navarro Merrimack. And a kayak along, to carry our lunches  . Thanks ...

Just some additional information. For the ladies only! I have on-off wrist tendinitis issues, and at least for me, what my hormones are doing greatly affected-aggravated the condition. I'd be fine for three weeks, wake up with them throbbing and wondering what the ***I did to set them off. Took a wh...

At the takeout, getting ready to load the canoes onto the truck, noticed a baby rattlesnake hiding in with the thigh straps. Sure wouldn't want that falling on your head! Don't know if we picked him up at lunchtime? Or whither he got washed into the boat at the takeout when the canoe had been turned...
